A Weird Chili Mac

Tonight's dinner will be a chili mac. It's the way my wife prefers chili, not too hot and with noodles in it. So, that's what's for dinner tonight. Normally I do ground beef with it. But I have some deer sausage that a friend of the wife's from her work gave her that was okay but not great, and we're just done eating it. So, I am going to cut it up and put that in for the meat for the chili mac. It should not be bad. Meat is meat, right? And masked in all of the other flavors in the chili mac, the fact that the deer sausage was not spectacular should not be known at all. What's going on your plate tonight?

That's an interesting twist on chili. Hope the deer sausage doesn't ruin it.

I don't think it will. I was actually going to use ground venison, but I had this sausage, so I thought why not just use it up?

I bet that was good. Lasagna is one of those dishes that is often better the 2nd time around.

@porwest They are my husbands favorite vegetable. I put up with them every now and then to make him happy.

@HazySue I suppose if he likes them. I put up with beets because my wife likes them. I have gotten used to them, but they are never my first go-to.

I had a PB&J sandwich. I think I would pass on the deer sausage. I hope the chili was good.

Deer sausage is actually quite delicious. Not sure if you like summer sausage or not. But honestly, if I put a summer sausage slice and a deer sausage slice in front of you, you'd have a hard time telling the difference really. But not sure where you stand on summer sausage. There are subtle differences, and I can tell the difference. But it's so subtle that the average person would not pick up on it. I cannot tell you the last time I had a PB&J sandwich. BUT, when I did make one in years past I liked to toast and butter my bread and then add the PB&J. Now that's good eats, let me tell you.

@porwest I'd be willing to try the deer sausage I guess. I have my PB&J on 12-grain bread. Deeeelish.

With the right spices, you might be able to mask anything.

Sounds good to me. I am sitting here with the frozen burger I took from my toaster oven and having it with ketchup and raw onion.

I have never had deer sausage but it sounds interesting. I think I have had deer jerky but that was years ago. Sounds like a winner though.

Normally, of the many deer sausages I have had, they are quite good. This one just had a bit of an odd taste to it that made it not horrible, but slightly less enjoyable by itself.

Foods that are something hot and with too much spices in it do not please my palate but I do like bake mac. Enjoy your meal. I've had noodles for lunch.

I am personally not into spicy foods at all either. To me the heat destroys the flavor, and personally when I eat food, I want to taste it. lol

We had venison in all kinds of dishes growing up, including chili. Probably soup here, not sure yet.
