Family Archive

Two years ago one of my nieces passed away. Her mom was a sister of my late dad. My niece was, just like my dad, an artist. Besides a big family archive (paper and digital), I also inhereted her beautiful digital art. Today I started to look at the first of a few large external harddrives in hope to bring some order in what to keep and what not. Boy oh boy, wish me luck because I think I need another life to walk my way through the thousands of photos. The attached photo are examples of her work. I think I'm going to use them for cards and wall decorations. If I ever find the time.

No, not paintings, she made this on the computer with special programs. Digital art is computer made art.

@TitiaG She was talented, because digital art is as difficult as any other form of art.

@LadyDuck I know, I couldn't do what she did. Don't have the peace and time for it either. My niece suffered from Parkinson disease for a long time. Most of her work is from about 15 years ago, due to the progression of her illness. End of 2018 she was hospitalized when she hardly could move anymore. She asked for and was granted euthanasie. I was with her when it was executed.

I noticed her artwork before I read your discussion. She was very talented. I would save all her work.

Yes I do safe them all, not only because she asked me to, but also because I really like her digital art. After three full days of work, I've now selected the to keep and not to keep maps on one TB harddisc. It also contained all of her personal administration which of course I deleted. I told my hubby this afternoon that it actually felt a bit strange doing this because I am literally deleting someone's life.

Those are quite something, made me think of Dali. I am sorry to hear about the end of her life, but glad she got what she wanted in the end. And as for sorting through family archives - I know all about that!!

She sure was talented, but mostly kept it to herself. I knew about the 2D and 3D and I promised her to get them monitized on cards and other stuff. Part of the (hopefully) earnings are going to charity. Yesterday I found some other lovely things. She made her own paper and colored it and then transormed the pieces into little collages.

Wow! She really was a very talented woman, those artworks are very lovely! And I really agree with you, those photos are great for postcards, wall decors, or even table decors if put on a small frame. I think there are also websites you can put it up and people pay you for using the digital image. Wishing you all the best!
