A New Beginning

As we all know, 2020 has been a monster of a year that seems to never give us much of a break. It has been a very long time since I have checked in here and I sure have missed it. My husband and I are no longer living in our van. Health issues have forced us to find a permanent place to live. We are now living in Senior apartments in Quartzsite, Arizona. This is a town where we always spend the winter months because of the weather. But summer will be a real challenge for us as temperatures will rise into the triple digits. Still, we are very grateful for a place to live. Within the first month that we moved in, my husband became extremely ill which led him to spend a month in a hospital and then a nursing home for rehab. Because of this pandemic, I was not allowed to be with him and it was the first time in 8 years that we have been apart. It was the toughest time for both of us. He is home now and doing much better. As for me, I am suffering from major anxiety when going out into town or anywhere else. Traffic causes me to have major anxiety to the point where it can lead to panic attacks. It's become difficult for me to leave the apartment even for simple tasks. I'm trying to work on this because I don't like any disability to stop me from living my life. All in all, we are praying along with everyone else that 2021 will be a much better year. I sure do not want a repeat of 2020. Now that we seem to be getting into a better daily routine here in our little place in the desert, I hope to begin to be more active on this site. I love reading about the daily lives of people from all around the world. My apartment is right by an open desert surrounded by mountains. I get to enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets right from my living room window and watching the full moon come up over these mountains. The sounds of coyotes in the morning is like music to my ears. Even though there are the dangers of rattlesnakes in warm weather in the desert along with scorpions and other critters, this place is still magical to me. Every day there is a flock of quails that loudly make their presence known. They are the funniest looking little birds to watch. So basically, we are happy and safe. I love it here and as soon as my husband is up to it we will go camping close to home and enjoy a nice campfire for a few days. This is a place where camping is a way of life and we are surrounded by free camping places. I know this has been a long post but life has just taken so many twists and turns this year that it feels so good to write all about it. I am looking forward to reconnecting with many of you. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Blessed New Year!

It is a wonderful lifestyle! We loved it! But because of our health we knew it was time find a place to live. This is a great town to live in although I am not looking forward to the summer months. Thank God for the invention of an air conditioner! LOL!

So if arizona was your winter home up until now where did you live in the summer months? Is the panic attacks a new thing and maybe related to the uncertanties brought about by covid? It's good to meet you and learn a little about your life. My brother has lived in az since the early eighties. He used to be in Scottsdale and is now in Phoenix. I live in Michigan my home town but I've lived in eight other states back in the eighties. I have one for article on hubpages and thought I'd check your link but for a 401 error that the link is incorrect.

We had been living in our van for three years and during the summer months, we would head to the northern states. This past summer though we stayed in the woods in Williams Arizona where the temperatures were much cooler than in Quartzsite because so many states had shut down during the pandemic. My anxiety did begin getting much worse this past summer when we could no longer travel across the states. I missed going to Yellowstone which is my favorite place to be in the summer. I haven't been on hubpages in a while so I will have to check my link. Thanks for letting me know!

Merry Christmas to you! My daughter lives in Tucson. All that traffic sent me into panic mode for sure. Delighted for her to handle it when I visited.
