NO ROOM Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (KJV) In a world focused on Santa Claus, Father Christmas, and commercialism, Jesus has gotten lost in the true meaning of Christmas. The world has no room for Him. Christmas isn’t about what we give each other. It’s about what God promised to give the world. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (KJV) People will argue that Jesus wasn’t born on December 25, but on another day so they can have their day of commercialism and set aside Jesus and think only of themselves with greed in their hearts. The fact remains, Jesus was born. God fulfilled every promise He made to bring a Savior into the world to bring salvation to every person. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Why did God need to promise the world a Savior? Why does mankind need to be saved? Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. God created a perfect world, a world without sin. Yet sin found a way to enter through temptation. Genesis 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Because Adam and Eve sinned, mankind needed a Savior. Not any Savior. Not one born in a king’s palace, but one born among the people. A baby born without sin, so He could redeem the world to Himself. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (KJV) The day of Jesus’ birth doesn’t matter. What matters is that He was born. God fulfilled His promise and announced His Son’s birth to the world. Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (KJV) What is the first thing you do when your baby is born? Don’t you tell everyone? God did the same thing when His Son was born. He announced it with a choir of angels. Jesus was born in a manger, not a palace. His first home was a stable full of animals because there wasn’t room in the inn. He came as a baby so we could identify with Him. He went through the same problems in life we do and more. Yet, people still can’t find room for Him in their lives. It’s too crowded with personal obligations. They don’t realize the baby born in a manger in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago, is the person they need most in their lives. Without Him they are lost in their sin. Can you find room in your life for Jesus? When you accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you will understand the life He offers is eternal and you are no longer separated from God, but you are one of His dear children. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus, to be my Savior. Let Your life flow through me as I draw closer to You every day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
