I think I am going to leave them up.

When I was decorating for Christmas, I put a strand of Christmas lights in the kitchen window. I really enjoy the color out there at night. I think I am just going to keep them up. I have seen restaurants and so forth that leave lights like that up all year, so why not me? This window backs to the woods anyway. No one else can see these, so I might as well do as I wish! Let there be light! Do you ever keep decorations up you particularily like?

I have a string of lights over my window. I don't turn them on very often, but they are there. They are inside though and it sounds like yours are strung outside? I took the ornaments off my tree already but I haven't done anything with the tree yet.

No, they are inside. I couldn't reach the ouside of the window without getting on a ladder, and I am not about to do that for one strand of lights.

@snowy22315 Ah okay. I bet it adds a little bit of light for when you go to the kitchen late at night too.

I have bought "non Christmas lights" to decorate the window during the year, I like the lights.

We have lights year round at the road on the gate posts. Blue for winter when we are done with the Christmas ones.

My son has clear lights in his screened-in porch which are left up all year. They are beautiful and can vary lighting from his remote control.

I will leave my tree up with lights until January 6th. The lights at the road, we have year round. We will take down the Christmas ones and have blue for winter. I keep my snowman decorations up all winter, even if they are a bit Christmasy!

@Mike197602 All the Christmas lights come down, but the blue "winter" lights stay up. Then red for Valentine's, back to blue. White for summer and then the Hallowe"en ones.

I put all of the Christmas decorations away the day after Christmas but I did leave the colored lights up on the avocado tree. I like the look of them at night when it is dark. I'll take them down in a few days.

It's your home you have the right to put what you want in your windows as lon as its not something that is hurtful to others and when have colored lights been hurtful to anyone right @snowy22315 ?

We have decided we'll old enough to do as we wish too. We move our computers into the lounge in the winter so we have the benefit of the fire. I'd be leaving my lights up too if I were you.

@snowy22315 We have less visitors than we used to now and fewer dinner parties. Not that there's much to move from the lounge if we do.
