Today I had to move my 20 Drenthe Heath Sheep ewes to a new grazing ground. I've trained my sheep to hop into my little Piaggo Porter Van. Took 3 rides to get them all to their new dyke. They're happy and I am happy.

Do you have 20 of them? It's a hard job to move them all.

I have 20 ewes at the moment and 4 young rams. Sold ewes to a big herd because I don't want to have too many sheep to care for in winter. Well the moving went very well this time. They all jumped into my van. I was glad that it went all smoothly because I don't have sheep dogs at the moment. We had to put down both my Border Collies a couple of months ago. They were litter sisters and 14 years old. They were growing deaf and blind and developped all sorts of nasty old age diseases. We decided to put them both down at the same time.

@TitiaG I am sorry for your Border Collies, also animals get old age diseases, better not to make the suffer. A neighbor not far from us has several sheep, the are usually in the grazing field in front of our garden, I think they are inside the stable right now, it snowed on Monday, they cannot eat.

It's not really hard, this old breed still has the instinct and ability to cope with all kind of circomstances. In winter it takes way more time when you have to feed them hay and see that they have acces to fresh water on a daily base.

That's great that you can transport your sheep like that.

Well, they're not always so coöperative. They can be rather headstrong and stubborn if they want to. But....if one sheep leaps over the ditch, all the rest will follow and some of the ewes really like to jump into the van.
