Matilda's gone droving in Heaven

Some time ago now we met Matilda, a three-legged kelpie who was a great character. The loss of a hind leg never seemed to worry her and she enjoyed a great life on a farm. As she aged, she graduated to a bed in the kitchen rather than being a purely outside dog. We stayed on the property in south-west Western Australia for a few days and got to know Matilda and the other two Border Collies.
We took photos of the family group and the dogs had to be part of it. That was fine for a while but then Matilda got tired of the whole ‘sit’ and ‘smile’ commands. She hobbled off about ten metres from the family, sat with her back to us and absolutely ignored any commands or coaxing. She had obviously had enough. Now she has passed away. Her family will miss her terribly.

Matilda will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her. Three-legs doesn't mean very much, to a dog that receives kindness and a beautiful life on a farm!
Kobe hates a camera, taking his photo is a chore:(

@JudyEv I had a dog with one crippled front leg. Wiffy did great, with three legs!

Sounds like an old sweetie. We really want a dog, but knowing that one day they will pass really tugs at my heart.

@JudyEv we have had birds and cats. I was sad to lose our birds. But, when my cats passed, that was more difficult. We cannot have dogs where we live. Little Miss really wants one.

@ElusiveButterfly We had our little cat for 16 years so there is a big hole left when they leave.

That is sad, it is always bad when a 4 legged furry friend passes away.
