Short story: The spiritual truth, God, consciousness, love, and you.

The master discoursed to his students, but was left with a question of his own to answer then too.

The spiritual master, Horim Zeghuklo, wrote this discourse for his students. The master said: "Consciousness lives but for a moment in you." "Use it wisely to see yourself through its mirror into love." "If you see your own reflection, you see nothing, but if you see through the mirror, like a window, you see God." "You, or God, who will you see, and be." "Here is a quote of another master for you to ponder over now, for a moment, or two." "You are neither consciousness nor its content. You are the timeless source...the supreme reality. Trust that." "That's a quote from the master, Sri Nisargadatta Marahaj, (1897 to 1981)." "But, what is the content of consciousness?" you might ask me. "Consciousness has no content until you add content to it, but then it is no longer pure consciousness, but mere thought." "Let love be your knowing, and consciousness stay empty of yourself, and your thoughts will then be God's thoughts." "Only knowledge that leads to God is true knowledge." "Only truth that reveals God to you is true truth." "Only love that connects you to God is true love." "That's it for today. I will talk more on this subject tomorrow." And with that, the master took his leave from his students, and went into his private room, to study, meditate, and to do those other things that such a master does. He had his own question to ponder over too. "How does duality relate to oneness, given that it would disappear if it was reabsorbed completely into oneness?" After an hour of meditation on this question, he came up with this answer for himself: "Love combines both duality and oneness together, like strands of DNA creating life, isolated, but connected, separate, but joined, intertwined by love and so part of oneness, whilst still separate too." I think if love of any kind not just romantic love is really open, true and honest it can bring a special kind of closeness to one another no matter what the relationship

Yes, the love between a spiritual master, and his student can be like that, but so can the love between us and God. And yes, loving God truthfully, openly, and honestly, does ensure that we move closer to him too, with that special type of closeness that you referred there to, too.

We tend to get carried away by our separateness as reflected in our physical body but we have control over our mind to see the larger reality of oneness. Our restless existence is due to our perceived detachment that tends to camouflage the ultimate realty The seeking of who we really are is supposed to reveal the truth. We are not the body or the mind but something of deeper connection to god is the real deal. And when we realize and take on board that connection, we know the truth of our eternal existence that does not depend on our physical existence here. We should offer ourselves in the service of our creator and with the right approach we will get the connection and guidance without being overwhelmed by challenges of a material world. It is up to us to choose the path; one that serves our physical needs or one that looks at our true potential and connection with our creator through divine love.

Thanks, siva. You said that very well. "Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside." Ramana Maharshi. And this is our whole problem too. We try to solve problems that are outside of us, live our life, mostly outside of ourselves, and think our thoughts more about what is happening outside of us, rather than inside.

@Shiva49 Life is about growth, and increasing in aware consciousness of the truths of love, and how to live from them wisely, in our lives. The ever opening doors allow us to grow, as we pass through each one, and not stick ourselves behind one, keeping it closed on ourselves, and so we stagnate behind it then too. A couple of John Henry Newman's quotes agree with this sentiment too. "To live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often." "Growth is the only evidence of life." John Henry Newman was an English theologian, and poet, (1801 to 1890).

@innertalks Thanks Steve, when we tune in to the right frequency internally, then our outlook is rightly set. Creation is made up of countless factors and when we want a predetermined result for our actions, we are bound to be unhappy. Doing our duty is the best reward by itself. The sun does not expect any reward from us, the rivers do not drink its water, but everything in nature nurtures us and other species. We tend to be too calculative and, thereby, lose the plot of life to end up unhappy and in misery. Nothing is the end; when one door closes many open for us to choose from.
