COVID-19 in the Family!

I am a natural born worrier. No wonder my family keeps worrisome things from me, darn them!
During a New Year’s Day phone call with my brother, he informed me that he and my sister-in-law both had Covid-19 sometime in May.
My sister-in-law is a psychiatric nurse, caught it from a patient, brought it home, and gave it to my brother.
We speak often and those stinkers didn’t want to worry me, so they kept it from me.
Fortunately, they lost their sense of smell and had a sore throat for a couple of days, but were fine shortly after.
I would have liked to have known, just so I’d have something to worry about. So glad they are fine.

I am so glad they didn't have serious respiratory problems, from COVID! And because this happened in May, they are both doing fine at this time. My family doesn't like me to know things like this, I'm a chronic worrier, also.

Thank you! I'm glad, too. However, they sat through many lectures from me warning them how to protect themselves at work and being out and about. Afterall, they are Trump followers. They must have had some good belly laughs!!!
It's funny how little by little I am being told about the things that were kept from me years ago. Some mind blowing. I still like to know about worrisome things. I'm sure you understand, being a chronic worrier, too.

@kobesbuddy Me, too! My husband has been entrusted with secrets and he kept them so well from me. At least I know he can keep a secret for years and years. Hmmmmmm...........

@DianneN I get my feeling hurt, almost like they're saying 'it's none of my business!'

Well, they don't want to spread fear and have you concerned over nothing, because their symptoms were not even close to life-threatening. At least they eventually told you when the crisis was adverted.

You can do everything right, follow every precaution and still get sick. @DianneN

@kaylachan I'm not so sure about that. I've been doing everything right and have been fine. Knock on wood.

Some would not like to share such thinking it would worry others like your brother did.
Happy they both had only a couple of days of discomfort before getting back to normal.
This virus can create havoc on some leaving long lasting issues too.

I was worried when I read the topic. Glad that it's a thing of past. And they are well nowThey had a a valid reason to keep it as a secret and save you from worries.

@DianneN Haha no need to worry now that you know the truth. Just be thankful they still informed you after they recovered from it. My wife did that too not to inform me about the bills so that l can focus on healing myself than worrying about the hospital bill. I just knew about it when l was being discharged.

If they lived with me, they'd be banned to their rooms, but fortunately, they have their own home and live 45 minutes away.
I am a natural born worrier when I do learn of things to worry about. In this case, I learned after the fact, so can worry about other things like what to make for dinner.

They are little stinkers from keeping it from you, but they were probably right to do so knowing how much you would have worried about them. I'm just glad to hear that they are alright. I remember during my own Covid experience how much I started to worry when I list my sense of taste and smell. That's when it finally hit me that the virus was real and dangerous.

@DianneN I still have lingering effects. Sometimes breathing is difficult, like I have an elephant sitting on my chest. I also noticed recently some small sores on the bottom of my feet. My doctor says they are Covid sores, and have been seen in many patients with the virus. But overall, I seem to be doing well; I feel good and seem to be pretty healthy.

Thanks for your kind words. They know me so well.
I remember how ill you were and was so happy you recovered. I was truly worried about you. You were the first person I actually knew who came down with it. Thank goodness you pulled through!

@moffittjc Wow! I’m sorry you are still facing those breathing issues. I have heard about those, but not about the Covid sores. At least you are doing well and feeling good. Hopefully, as time passes, you will feel much better. Right now, there are still so many unknowns about this rotten virus.

Thanks, Thelma. We spent a lot of time talking on the phone, and I went into my spiel about staying safe. Then he told me the news. I was still shocked. I've been telling them how to keep safe all this time and they never said a word. . Yes. I like to know what is going on in the family.

Well I'm glad they were fine and didn't have more serious symptoms. But what if you had went over to visit them and didn't know ? It's not something they should have kept from you.

Well that is good to hear that they are okay....it is frustrating when people keep things from us - even if they do it for a good reason.
