A Tad Surprised

The Ice Princess stuns me quite often and is growing up so quickly! But she is still a little girl and I love her to the moon and back.
But that is not what stuns me. In our last FaceTime conversation on New Year’s Eve, she took me up to her bedroom to show me the Louis Vuitton wallet/notepad that her other grammy bought for her. It has a pink flap with the black and brown check pattern.
She will receive the handbag when she turns 13 in June by her other grammy. It’s similar to the one in my photo, but matches the wallet.
She loves it, but now what the heck can I buy her?

I like Marie's idea. Maybe even some monogrammed cases if you can find them or have them made.

@DianneN You know like a lipstick case with her initials on or something. I bet you could find someone online who designs them. I guess she might be a bit young for makeup though..but a monogrammed brush or something would be cool. I once got my dad some monogrammed hankerchiefs.

@snowy22315 Now I understand. I thought you meant LV products, because they do monograms, also. She wears makeup for competitions, so that is a great idea!!!! Thank you!

From some other responses, I think that you would get some good ideas. However, I might sound Old school or "Odd" school, but I believe that Love, Good Moral values are the things that are the best gifts one can give to their kids or grand kids.
As for other gifts, there can always be some or other ideas.

That is of utmost importance. Not everyone raises their kids like that. I met one of my relatives at a recent marriage event which I talked earlier.
Their kids are much more grown up than my kids. They do not acknowledge others, say Hello or Namaste(Indian style)and not even talk to the kids. They behave in a way as if they are so arrogant.
They do not respond properly even when some elderly people come and talk to them.
What kind of values such kids have. I would never bring up my kids that way.

I am not sure if I am perfect as I learn new things and start doing more right things and undoing wrong ones. Yet we make sure that they do not misbehave with others and greet others, especially elders.
Unfortunately many people these days are not teaching enough values at home and that is a sign of social decay!

I love the pink touches. Designer sneakers crossed my mind, but she outgrows her shoes too quickly. I don't believe LV makes them for children. I've never seen anything for kids there. Burberry has a children's line, but nah. Marie gave me a good idea. Goodies to fill the bag and cash for the wallet. She does love cash!

You certainly don't want to get trapped in a sort of 'battle of the grandparents' over who gets her the poshest/ most expensive gifts! Either get things that are complementary (like the many wonderful suggestions you have already had for things to go in the wallet and bag) or gifts that are totally different. I'm quite a fan of 'experience' gifts, such as a day out somewhere or lessons for something (although I doubt she has time for any other classes with all the things she already does).

Our son tells us we are not in the same league as his in-laws, and he is correct. They are very wonderful and generous people with lots of money. We are wonderful and generous grandparents and do what we can afford. I found some wonderful ideas on here and from some of my friends. I will continue searching online. We had a tea day scheduled a few years ago, but her schedule didn't allow for it to happen.

You have 6 months (almost) to decide since this birthday (13th) is a special celebration (unless orodox Jew) where Jewish youth celebrate the coming of age with a bar (bat for girls) Mitzvah) celebration and from what I have read it is a pretty big celebration.

Not orthodox, but we will be attending her Bat Mitzvah. I'm well aware. lol. Due to Covid, she will have the family and ceremony in the afternoon outdoors and with masks, etc. The kid's party will be in the evening, and the following year, she will have a big bash at the venue which was originally booked for this year. A trip to Israel follows.

@Elizaby The entire family will be going to Israel. Dad will pay for everyone. If we go, we will pay our own way.
18 is considered a special number. The numerical value means life. It's very common to gift money to the kids in multiples of 18 on their bar or bat mitzvahs and when donating to charities.

@DianneN Israel is is and other areas mentioned in scripture is where I hope to visit one day. for it is holy ground. Maybe your gift can be an account set up for her trip to Israel where you can add to when celebrating different events so she will have plenty of her own funds for the trip (I also read money i one of the main gifts at these events (one I read you give money in multiples of 18 though I dont know where the 18 is from) Your grnadson's is coming in a couple of years so you might consider starting one for him too though don't tell him till his Bar Mitzvah

Just because she's getting a LV item does not mean that you have to compete. Just buy her something that you know she will like and can use.
