Why need to boast?

I don't know the point of my monster in-law.
Since before she used to introduced me to their friends or neighbor that I am from hongkong.
Even to the land lord here in the flat and new neighbors, she's saying I am from hongkong.
Why so?I am proud to be a Filipino,though my country is not rich country like U.S,hongkong ect.I will never deny from where I am.
I don't know why she need to boast about HK,not pH.
I feel so bad.

Our country is beautiful. Even more beautiful than hers. It just so happened that they are a financial haven.

I am not sure how old and aware she is. Many in older generation might know the difference between a Japanese and a Korean. It's just the ignorance. Maybe she finds it easier to say Hong Kong as many would know it. You can ask her reason to do so.
