I might have to lodge my first complaint for ebay

I ordered a surge protector on the fourth of this month. It was a few dollars cheaper than another I'd seen just like it. Well, I look at the overall rating on a seller before I decide to buy and they had a lot more positive than negative reviews. Apparently, for whatever reason, I failed to see the negative reviews were for the exact item I had bought. A few people have complained they never received the item and had no communications with the seller. I think I may call Fed Ex first before I do anything and see if they have taken possession of the item on their end. If not then I am going to be contacting the seller. I really wanted the darned surge protector sooner rather than later! What's the most recent frustration you've had?

I've been waiting for something to come for 4 months. Their excuse - it's stuck at the airport due to Covid. I've never bought anything from ebay.

Wow, was it an item that came from outside the UK? I've bought several things from ebay with no issues. I hope this one is an isolated issue.

@jaboUK What website did you order it from? I know on Ebay it shows where the item location and not the seller location unless you go their profile. i hope you will get results soon. I know I will be going above the seller's head and to ebay if they do not do anything soon.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes it was coming from China though I didn't know that when I ordered it. I'm in a battle with them as they say they can't give me a refund because the item has been shipped. I'm well fed up with them.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well this particular company has so many complaints against it that the BBB for their area had a direct email address for the executives for them...and yet how do they maintain an A+ rating? Obviously, the fix is in!

Nothing I hate more than having to play phone tag with companies to get them to do what they should in the first place.

I hope it shows' up. I have seen many buyers gives negative feedback just to decrease their overall rating. This help competitor shops to gain new customers. Don't worry you will get those

The shipping information was updated on the fourth to indicate that a label had been created. The seller or the seller's rep (since the seller is in China but the product is in KY) would have to send the item to Fed Ex themselves... I think that these negative reviews about the item never shipping might be accurate.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Honestly I never seen how's things work behind the scenes. Never observed all these things. But I have seen few people paying others to give negative ratings for sure ( I got a task for that ) You can ask for refund if that doesn't get delivered to your place right ?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Since you said seller is from China and you said item never shipped for some might be accurate hence I asked you if they allow refund or not... Hmm if refund is possible then I think all is good the only thing is that this package will test your patience and In case it never arrived to your place then you have to order it again and wait for some more time

True, but at least in this case it isn't a matter of the delivery. From what I can see online it doesn't seem as if Fed Ex has even accepted the item yet. That tells me the seller or the seller's rep hasn't sent it to fed ex yet.

@LindaOHio I don't know about EBay either, but the ex BF told me once that EBay usually sides with the customer so let's hope that's the case here too.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Bummer. If it were Amazon, they would take care of any problem ASAP. I don't know about eBay.

I have... The fed ex tracking number tells me that a shipping label has been created and that was four days ago. Fed Ex does not pick up packages in my country, the seller has to take the package to a Fed Ex drop off location and they have not yet done so.

The most recent was definitely the cat carrier. It took too long too ship. It's frustrating indeed. I cancelled the order and bought from a store instead.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I buy via a shopping platform like Amazon. So I don't have to release the payment to the seller as long as I haven't receive the product. Since the seller did not post nor update anything, I was quickly refunded.

@prinzcy Oh okay I see. There are no sites like that here in the US. We must pay before the seller ships, but we can request a refund if the item isn't satisfactory.

Yes, it's very frustrating when the item doesn't ship as soon as you expect it to. Did they give you your money back or was this a pay upon receipt item?

The good thing about eBay is they have some customer protection in place. And the burden of proof of dispelling an unsatisfied customer's complaint rests mostly on the part of the seller.

Amazon is generally very good about shipping things or fixing whatever errors were made. I used to be weary of ebay but I've ordered quite a lot with no problems.

@LadyDuck Amazon's prices were becoming more expensive than what I could find on ebay. That is the main reason I switched.

I hope you'll get the item or the money back. I don't really have any bad experience in online shopping now, but back then yes, only 2 experiences. 1. They sent almost expired face mask 2. They didn't send the items at all. But I got my refunds back.

@ScribbledAdNauseum at the first case i didnt request for refund. I contacted the seller and tell them about it, they said they sold it cheap because the expired date was just around the corner. And i told them they should put that information on the page. After that i contacted the platform and asked them to give the seller some warning. Few days later i found they gave my money back.
