Weight Loss Journey - Day 6

Hello again everyone, hope you are all doing well. It's been a busy day here so haven't been around till now. However, I am back to share how my journey went today. Let me say, I didn't stay exactly on plan. First; weigh in. Yesterday: 189.4 Today:188.4 So, another pound down! Still got a long ways to go....but at least it is moving down. However, I bet tomorrow it will be up. Blood sugars today? Fasting in the 170's. I didn't check after meal 1. After meal 2 it was 170. So...what did I eat? Meal 1: Cheat Meal. Frappe from Burger King (small), some fries, 5 chicken nuggets. I didn't go all out, but still was too many carbs. Meal 2: Burger with a low carb bun, cheese, mayo, no sugar added ketchup. Snack: Ross Chocolates sugar free coconut lemon - 5 pieces. So...I didn't make it a whole cheat day...but I still bet my sugar will be higher fasting tomorrow and my weight will go up a bit. We'll see though. What do you think? Also, how did you do? Photo via Pixabay.

Unless you have blood sugar issues, I doubt very highly your fasting sugar would be too high after fasting. Mine was under 100, which isn't half bad. It's usually between 90-110. I eat the same amount of carbs more or less, and drink soda, so.... but I'm also active so it kind of balances out. As for weight not sure where I'm at, but then I'm kind of glad I can't check everyday. Weight fluctuates and can go up and down regardless of how much you diet and exercises. That's just normal. Glad you're on a downward trend though.

I am type 2 diabetic. So yes...I struggle with high fasting numbers if I have ate too many carbs the day before. I can get them down to 80-100 if I stick to low carb long enough...I have just come off of a 2-3 month carb binge which should have not happened....but did. That's great that you can keep yours in that range, that's perfect.

@MommyOfEli2013 Yeah, I know. When I go to th doctor's office, if it's above 100, they want to give me a lecture. But, yeah. I understand about diabeties. Bindges happen. At least you're trying to get it under control.

@kaylachan Really? As long as it is under 120 I don't think any doctor would be too upset. Maybe that is just if the person is already diabetic, not sure. Yes binges do....but 2-3 month long? I went way overboard. Trying now for only one high carb meal a week and stay low carb the rest of the time.

What's your target weight to maintain? I hope that the sugar wouldn't spike at the highest.

For my height, I'd like to get down to 95 pounds (Not sure what that is in other measurements).

When you have those days try to get some extra exercise in to help balance out the carbs

You did well keeping your cheat meal to only a meal and not the whole day. I did well yesterday.

@just4him I knew they wouldn't be kind this morning after that 1 meal yesterday. Even one is apparently harmful. However, not going to cut those out completely (just yet)

Thank you, normally I'd just take the whole day off or the whole weekend - but I didn't. The scale and blood sugars weren't happy this morning though. That's good to hear!

Remeber to power through the gains! sometimes we lose water the first couple of weeks, and then that water is returned (our bodies need it). Fat holds a lot more water than muscle! keep going!!!!

Oh I know about the water weight, and that's why I always would lose and gain the same 5 pounds or so last year lol.

Calorie wise, I think you were pretty much on target, but your carbs were a little high.

I didn't even share my numbers for yesterday, but I think my calories were where they should be yes. Carbs were high but I had a cheat meal....at least I didn't cheat the whole day! Today the total carbs are a bit higher than I'd like but the net carbs are pretty low.

@MommyOfEli2013 To me each person's journey is how they feel and what they want to get out of it. How do you feel is what is important here and are you happy with your journey?

@MommyOfEli2013 It is not easy to start out but when you see real results you will be very happy. I have been on my journey for or 3 years now and it was a struggle at first but now I can look at food and not want it. It takes time and don't beat yourself up. It will get there.

It always amazes me how many calories and carbs can be packed into so little food when you go the fast food route

errmmm, burgers, nuggets and chocolates are no no for weigh loss programme. You should eat salads, brown rice with steam food, no prepack food or fast food.

Burgers are fine without regular bread. I won't eat salads, sorry. I don't eat fruit or vegetables - yuck. I also don't do rice....I do low carb except on the occasional cheat meal.
