Hi all. My life changed forever on January the 7th when my son age only 10 was diagnosed with diabetes. I am amazed how brave he is. He checks his glucose and he does his insulin alone. It was a massive shock but we are getting there. It will be our life from now on.

My goodness! What a way to start the year! I knew a girl who was diagnosed with Type 1 when she was seven. Like your son, she very quickly learnt how to check her glucose level and measure and inject the insulin herself without any fuss. My daughter was also diagnosed with Type 1 while she was in her second year at Uni and only days before she was due to leave for a year as a student teacher in a French school. It was a frantic scramble getting all the supplies she needed and finding out how to get them in France but it all happened somehow! She's now married with a son of 8 and has a pump device which, I believe, measures the glucose level, calculates the dosage and delivers it via a cannula.

That's admirable. He is really brave and I am sure he will live a good long healthy life managing his condition.
