Perkedel

I don't have any appetite for few days. Seeing rice makes make want to throw up, but I need carbs so tonight I decided making perkedel. It made from crushed fried potatoes, add salt, pepper, chopped celery and spring onion, also fried shallots. Shape it, put it in egg batter and fried it until golden brown. It's perfect for me to fulfill my carbs need. And I noticed there is almost similar name such as Frikandeller, but Frikandeller made from meat. Maybe perkedel is cheap version of Frikandeller? Picture is mine

Frikadelle are Danish and German, but also made in Sweden and they are flat, pan-fried meatballs. They are made with minced meat, grated onions, breadcrumbs, egg... there is a Dutch version made with potatoes and no meat and you surely got your version from the Dutch version.

@LadyDuck It seems difficult for the Indonesian tongue to say Fricandeaux.

@May2k8 Fricandeaux is French, I lived in a French speaking country during 31 years, it's not difficult for me.

@rebelann I read online that you can make this using stiff mashed potatoes, too, Ann. I think I'm going to give this a try tomorrow.

Yes, just potatoes. Actually it's triple killed. You fry the potatoes, crush it and then fry it again.

I usually can't eat rice. Perkedels sound very good. I think I will find the recipe for them online and try them out. Thank you for telling me about them! I cooked a large pan of Shawarma yesterday. Do you know that recipe?

@DaddyEvil you don't use any bread to wrap that chicken? Here Shawarma is using bread, they are filling the bread with chicken and various stuffs.

Sounds good to me - basically fried potatoes with extra flavouring - what's not to like? In fact if there was more egg and less potato it might be a bit like a Spanish tortilla.
