Staying Motivated When Job Hunting

Made a couple of posts in the past about me trying to look for a job last year when I was placed in a floating status. Believe me, with a pandemic raging outside, it ain't easy looking for work. There were times that I wanted to give up and just take the first job that came along my way even though that I know the job was not a good fit.
Good thing, I got back to my previous job. It ain't easy and there is still a nagging feeling that we will be let go (You read it right - everyone and I mean everyone at work feels the same!) but I take it one day at a time.
Of course, it also helps that I keep my resume updated and I keep my eyes open for other job opportunities. With everything that is going on right now, it is hard to just give up and give in. Job hunting can be a job in itself, and the job isn't finished until you receive the offer of employment - signed, sealed, and delivered!
The time between searching for a job and successfully landing one can be really frustrating. So follow these tips to avoid becoming discouraged when job hunting:
1. Be clear what your values are.
2. Write out your marketable skills and areas you excel in.
3. Determine your areas of opportunities and how you can improve these.
4. Don't let the world decide for you, make the decision yourself.
5. You either choose what you love, choose what you are good at, or choose what pays the most.
I know, these are easier said than done but it is a start. I can elaborate but then I will have to charge you.
Cheers!

You left out one VERY important thing. Never rely on that paycheck being there forever. So when you HAVE a job, don't spend all of the money. Set something aside so if one day the job goes away, you have something to pay the bills until you land not just ANY job, but the RIGHT job.

True that!
Always a good idea to have multiple income streams.

@porwest agree with you with the savings. Currently building an emergency fund but also putting some funds in investments.

@allen0187 Not just multiple income steams I am talking about here. Not spending all of the money you make. SAVING money away from money you make now for a rainy day later. All are good. Saving AND multiple streams.
Too many people rely too much on a paycheck and when it is gone, hit a brick wall. I try to encourage people to avoid that at all costs.
You get to a point, if you do it right, that you can live YEARS without a single paycheck. I can go many, many years without a dime of income from any source and still do just fine.
I want more people to be able to say that.

No more jobs in this pandemic era. If there's it is hard to find them.

There are a lot of jobs. It is just challenging to find something that matches one's qualifications and needs.

Good advice for the job seeker. Looking for a job is one of my least favorite things to do in life. I find the whole experience tedious, stressful and problematic.

@allen0187 Yes, that is a good point. At least you can sleep in though.

Agree with you but do remember that you'll be tired, stressed, and problematic as well without a job.

We should never give up. We will find the right job for us sooner. Many people lost their jobs during the pandemic and there are also other issues that people are facing right now.

Good points to keep. We need to look for an alternative to cope up with this covid situation. Whatever is the job, let us just humble ourselves to grab even if the job is far from the experiences written on our resume. There are online jobs, or selling online. Let us hope that we are just in a temporary situation, any job will do for as long as it is clean and fair. Things will go back to normal and that will be the time for us to enjoy the kind of job that is really suited for us.
