It's supposed to hit 74 F here today! Buwaahaahaa!

I typed that just to make those of you facing Winter jealous. It's a sunny and clear day, and I'm off to take a hike with a friend. It's still in the 50s as I write, but it should warm up while we're on the trails. What are you up to on this sunny and (soon to be) warm Saturday?

@TheHorse it's snowed all day the other day but the temps never went below 33... so the snow didn't stay.

I had to go to the emergency room for my reflux. I’m home, watching the snow flurries on the LaGrange webcam.

It hit 40's here today but I had a lazy day at home as I'm still recovering from Covid. I am not contagious anymore by any means but i still have some of the sickness.

@TheHorse I don't think I will. My main symptoms were cough, runny nose and sore throat. I thought I just had my normal winter sickness but turned out it was covid.

@prinzcy Converting in ones head is pretty easy. 23 C means about 74 F to me.

Today, I will dishes! Do folks use Celcius there? Was it about 23 Celcius there yesterday? I've never been to Malaysia and don't have a good sense of the seasons.

Skating. Wouldn't really appreciate 74°F at the rink. +1°C works much better. And a brisk breeze dried the laundry while I was out. Smells great! And a similar temperature tomorrow for hiking is great! I hate hiking on warm days. Can't make me jealous. Enjoy your hike.

@TheHorse Skating was good. Had to cut it short as more people wanted on. Can only have 10 on the rink. Best to go while kids are in school!

I hope you feel better. My friend and I were discussing favorite foods as we hiked, and I was starving for Indian food as I drove home. I stopped at my favorite Indian restaurant, hoping they were doing take-out, but it was closed.

Everyone should be made to use Kelvin *mumblegrumble* Degrees Kelvin makes sense! Nice, sunny, and with a high around 264 degrees Kelvin. I hope we don't get more than 270 for weeks to come, since it's nice and snowy and no danger of falling on the ice. Snow is nice, ice is best with vanilla flavour.

@TheHorse My main problem with Celsius is that he was a Swede ;-) We always want to beat the Swedes, and when Celsius is used all over the world, it's getting difficult. But Kelvin makes sense. It starts with zero. I think only helium does anything at all at zero Kelvin.

@Torunn Agreed. I also agree that we should use Kelvin. Then everyone would be on equal footing and my German friend wouldn't criticize me for using F.

@TheHorse Our climate is actually much maligned - yes we get plenty of rain which feeds our crops and gardens, but we get a fair amount of nice weather too. Today has been bright and sunny, though cold.

@TheHorse I wouldn't wanna live somewhere where it is always hot. I can't stand the heat. And the humidity. I prefer cooler temps, cold temps and lots of snow. But before it turns ugly and slushy.

@TheHorse Actually our winter has not been that bad weatherwise. We have had sunny days when it is supposed to be cold. Now, it seems like the cold is here. Enjoy your nice weather. It was actually cold here and looked like rain so sat a little on the porch and then came inside to sit and Sophie got her pets and then went to sleep somewhere else. At times she likes to fall asleep on my lap but maybe it was warmer elsewhere so she chose that.

@TheHorse I do not go by what the weather people say because most of the time they are very wrong in predicting our weather here in Jerusalem. We have had nice weather from around May to around November usually is all I can say. I do not know temps because I do not believe them to be right. Usually from December to about March or maybe April it gets cold and layers go on. This year has been weird. In December we had really nice days where one did not have to wear layers and January also. Now, it seems like the cold is here and we have been getting rain. I cannot tell you about other cities except the Golan. They need snow for skiing. The Golan is in the Northern part of the country. Sorry cannot help with more. In January it is about 6 - 12 degrees Celcius in temps., which is about 43-55 F.

While I do look forward to warmer days, I would also like the temperatures to go up gradually. Sudden changes in the temperature is not to my liking. We have had days of dense fog, sunny days but with cold winds. Night temperatures are close to 5-6 C and day time close to 17 to 19 C, but cold winds persist throughout the day, Interestingly, cold winds effect is less when there is dense fog.

Out my front door. 01/15/21 Photo is mine.
Pretty and I bundled up and drove to Walmart to pick up a few groceries. After sliding around on the icy roads for a bit we made it home again and I parked our car... I hate driving on icy/snow covered roads! I took the photo out my front door last night.

Thanks! It was a good one. We had a lot of elevation gain, but there were switchbacks, so it was fairly gradual.
