The oven has worked hard

I have been online quite a bit, but the oven has worked hard today as well.
I had an open package of bacon, so I baked it in the oven. It is now in a box waiting to be eaten a strip or two at a time.
In the oven now is a Reuben casserole. It involves cubed rye bread, corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing as well as a few other things. I have not made it in a while. It can be made with pastrami.
We will get two, maybe three meals from it.
It smells so good!!
So did the bacon.

I think I had Koftas once at a restaurant where Grandpa Bob's wife Deb used to work. Chutneys are delicious.

@GardenGerty It was really good, it's a recipe I found in a magazine years ago and I never tried it.

@just4him I do not always want the leftovers right away. I am pretty easy to please, though.

@GardenGerty That's good you do. I've never done that. I usually don't know what I want to eat before I make it.

There are several recipes online. I have gone so far as to also use the same method and use ham and cheddar. Fewer carbs than a sandwich but same wonderful taste.

Ah bacon, I wish I have a strip or two right now. I have not heard or tried making a Reuben casserole, but I am familiar with a Reuben sandwich. It sounds good and pretty straightforward. I will add it to my list of meals to make and try.

I ran across the recipe on FaceBook once and now it is part of our regular meals. Especially in cold weather.

It has all the tasty ingredients, but not as much bread as a sandwich. It is a good change of pace.
