I Can't Believe They're Doing This!

My daughters (24 and 27) have both been laid off both their jobs due to COVID. And with a stay-at-home order in place, they have taken it upon themselves to redecorate my L-shaped living/dining room area. They are pretty adamant about it and I just don't want the upheavel.
They're going to paint the walls, tear up the wall-to-wall carpeting, install new flooring, BUY NEW FURNITURE (for the living room, not the dining room), curtains and are even considering removing the popcorn ceiling. I told them it would be easier to drywall over it. That's what the Property Brother say. At any rate we're looking at a sectional sofa and even book cases, a fireplace (probably electric) and even an area rug but that they are realizing is a little pricey. I've asked to be checked into a hotel. LOL
I pointed out to them that I just dropped almost $5,000 on new appliances. The fridge, washer and dryer all broke in the past few months. They said they had a budget and didn't weren't asking me for any money. What??? Are they kidding? They're going to pay for this. Again, they are 24 and 27 and probably won't be living here much longer. The 27 year old is engaged and they have plans drawn up for the building of their own house. I can't believe they are taking this on themselves to do.
We did a little purging today but I insisted nothing be thrown out without asking me. I'm a little disappointed that they want to replace the curtains because my mother made them. And the pictures on the walls I am going to have to convince them to let me keep up. I'll lose the battle on a lot of them but some I will be insistent... unless they're planning on replacing those with something more updated or artwork.
So this is going to be my life for the next few weeks. I can't believe they are paying for it. I will chip in some money though. I hope they don't take shortcuts like their father does (he doesn't use frog tape and paints a little bit on the sloppy side).
I am sure it will be beautiful when done and hope it doesn't take a month or more. Wish me luck. If you're looking for me I will be hiding in the family room reading (and watching HGTV while it is still free).
P.S. I LOOOOOOVVVEEE my washer and dryer... and my fridge.
The next few weeks are going to be a nightmare. But I am stunned that they are planning all this themselves. They better not ask me to help pack boxes and where the heck are they going to put them. They even talked about sanding down my dining room table and china cabinet which I totally refused. It's dark wood, we just bought chairs to match, the floor is going to be dark wood and a gray sofa with the book cases in black. It sounds like it's going to look nice and if they can't afford an area rug I may pay for that.
So Monday is the day they start tearing my living and dining room apart.

I'm a little concerned. They are buying some furniture second hand, which that whole room is already. I thought it would be all new. We'll just have to wait and see. I may have to toss them some money just to get them to purchase something new.

I guess they have a good plan and budget for it. I am sure you are going to love the final outcome. But it might be a little chaotic for few days . God bless them

@patgalca Hope that they say yes to that. When renovating it,we would like everything to go well and nothing to be compromised.

If I were you, I'd say "I'm the lady of the house, not you" and tell them they can decorate their own houses when they have them. But I'm not you, and I don't have kids wanting to redecorate my house. If I did, I'd tell them they could repaint the walls (in the color of my choice) if they really insisted, but that's it.

I've already said that. I told Katelyn she has her own house she is building and she should be focusing on that (they haven't broken ground yet).
Honestly, I wish we weren't on stay-at-home order, or in a pandemic at all because I would be on the first plane south and come home when it's all done. But I want to make some input. Whenever my husband's parents went away, the family would repaint their living room. But that's all they would do is paint.
Seems they are buying some things like bookshelves from kijiji or marketplace. Uh, second hand was not what I was hoping for but the mantle and fireplace they want to put in???? Wow!

I hope so. After years of complaining that these grown women don't help out around here physically or financially, it's going to be hard to complain after this. This morning they said they are not getting rid of the popcorn ceiling. I was anticipating a nightmare of a mess. I'm still anticipating that though.
