Judith Doughty is very happy that a stranger named Sharae Battle who was driving her auto with her children to a local hospital last week listened to the conversation of one her children who saw a Maltese walking on the street in Newport News Virginia.
Sharae then decided to take a closer look at the dog who went to get a drink at a pond. One of her children used a goldfish to attract the six year old dog named Skylar to come with them to their home to take care of the dog until the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter would be open in two days.
When the technician checked the dog to see if he had a microchip, the scan revealed that Skylar who had run away from his owners home by going to a bathroom break and was not seen again was going to return to his owner soon.
Ginger Vassar who is the daughter of Judith received the call from Susan Jacobs who was the technician who found the microchip inside of Skylar to tell her the good news that her pet was in good health and was ready to come home with his family.
Judith then went to the animal shelter to reunite with Skylar who greeted his owner by licking her which made Judith a very happy owner since she cried tears of joy at the reunion.
The most likely scenario was that some strangers took care of Skylar for the period of three years until Sharae and her children found the dog walking in street.

These are always such heartwarming stories, I am glad the dog got back home, I wonder where he was for three years.

The dog was likely being taken care of by strangers in the neighborhood since most animals that ran away find a home close to their home.

That is good news. I don't think they ran that on our news..but it is really a different area of the state.

I agree with you since in the Lake Charles market some news that happens in other cities like Baton Rouge and Shreveport does not make the broadcast locally.

Stories like this are so wonderful; but I almost cry thinking about that dog being gone from his owner for 3 years...both for the dog and the owner.

I agree with you since owners love their pets like their close relatives.
