Girl Scout Cookie Gluttony

Damn those Girl Scouts and their cookies! I came out of the grocery store last night to find the scouts with a table full of heavenly glory. Like a magnet drawn to iron, I couldn't help but be drawn over to the table to buy some cookies. I loaded up on Thin Mints and Samoas before I could even think about what I was doing.
I just opened up a box of Thin Mints to snack on a few cookies, and realized after a few minutes that I had eaten the entire box of cookies! I'm pretty sure I just consumed my entire calorie and fat intake for the day. No...more like for the entire weekend!
But you know what? I don't care, it was worth it for the few minutes of eating the nectar of the gods.
What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie, and do you have trouble controlling how many of them you eat? Be honest here, I promise I won't report you to the cookie police!

I've probably doubled the amount of calories I burn per day since practices started back up a couple of weeks ago. If anything, I need to eat more fattening foods to keep from losing too much weight from all the energy I'm expending.

I agree. I always buy extra boxes and put them in the freezer. I love eating cold Thin Mints.

Never had one actually. I think that's one of the customs we haven't picked up yet.
I have some cookies somewhere though. Last batch of Christmas cookies. I think I will dunk some in my tea later this evening, they're so sweet I can't eat the entire box in one go.

@moffittjc Hmm, maybe, if it came with some nice tea :-)
I really have a sweet tooth, but with cookies I don't eat as much as, say, candies or chocolate. So I can buy cookies and have the box for a while, whereas chocolate seem to disappear ...

It's precisely the sweetness of the cookies that makes me eat the entire box! haha

@Torunn Chocolate is a weakness of mine. I eat chocolate all day long, every day. I'm surprised I'm not fat or all of my teeth haven't rotted and fallen out!

Frozen Thin Mints are delicious! I also like Samoas and Tagalongs.
No, I eat a few and save the rest for another day... All of them store well in the freezer. They don't store so well in your stomach.

Putting the Thin Mints in the freezer seems to be the consensus among myLotters. I do it to with all the boxes I buy.

I love the thin mints. I have found a thin mint cookie at Sav-A-Lot here that tastes exactly the same.

Our Publix grocery stores have their own version that also tastes exactly like the real Thin Mints. But they're square instead of round.

Are they still 5 bucks a box? We like the peanut butter tagalongs. Years ago (meaning my childhood), I loved the lemon sandwich ones . . . but the lemon ones of today are just not the same. Sometimes they change the lemon ones, so I couldn't tell you the name of them - but we will get that one too. I know . . . I can soooo easily gobble up all of it in one sitting.

@moffittjc But why are they so good? Why can't we swallow a whole thing of cheaper Oreos like that?

Yes, they are still $5 a box. I would complain about the price, but I know the extra money is going to a good cause. Plus, they could charge $15 per box and I would probably still buy them.

Don't worry, paintball season has started back and I'm burning significant amounts of calories at practices, so I'm not worried about packing on extra weight from eating all those cookies.

I think the last time I bought any was in my late 20's early 30's. I'm 55 now, so its been awhile. They set up normally outside our local Wal Mart.

I almost bought a box of Tagalongs last night! Do you find it hard to control how many you eat in a single serving? Girl Scout cookies are a weakness of mine.

@moffittjc I'm not a big "sweets" person. My mom gave me a box of Tagalongs 2 years ago and I think I ate like 4 of them in a year before I threw them out. I still have Samoas from last year. I think I've had 1 or 2. Give me cheese, pretzels, popcorn, etc. Salty snacks are my weakness.

@NJChicaa I go for the salty snacks in the summer when I sweat a lot due to the heat and humidity. During that time of the year I am always eating something salty!

@Tina30219 I wish I could buy Girl Scout Thin Mints all year long! I know there are other brands of thin mint cookies available at grocery stores, but they are just not the same as the Girl Scout ones.

I keep the boxes I open stored in my fridge, they taste so much better when they are cold. I always stock up on Thin Mints every year and keep them stored in my freezer until I'm ready to grab a new box.

I used to work with people who'd do the same thing @moffittjc then they'd bring their cookies in to us to enjoy, I rarely ate any of them .... I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

Probably the thin mints too. But I've not bought any for over ten years I have enough problems with what's around me at work.
I just realized that I've not seen you around for awhile but you've been here we've just not butted heads recently.

@MarshaMusselman I have a tough time just keeping up with my notifications, let alone seeing what other activity is going on here. I do try to stop by and converse with as many people as I can, when I have the time (which is very infrequently these days).

@moffittjc I'm here most everyday. Really though the only real way to cross paths is to take time to look at who all is conversing on the discussions of others here and I don't have time to do that much.

@just4him It's been nonstop practicing, drilling and working out since the beginning of the year. In fact, I am so sore this morning from practice last night that I can hardly move any of my muscles. It's going to be a rough day at work. I hate practicing in frigid weather because your muscles just don't want to warm up. Or cooperate.

@moffittjc It sounds like you need to work out a lot with your paintball buddies. Get in a tournament or two to take care of all those empty boxes.

@moffittjc based on what we got this year - feels like one box now is equal to a 1/2 box ten years ago
