And that would have been a shame coz I absolutely LOVE Falooda. For those who are not in the know, a Falooda is an Indian dessert (which everyone must try it once) made using sweet basil seeds, vermicelli, rose syrup, milk, and ice cream. It is very easy to make! So, since I have moved to a new place a year ago, we still have been exploring around. Well, as much as the pandemic has allowed us, of course! And I miss the food from my hometown. So much!!!!! Well not the food exactly but the taste. Yeah the taste I am not able to find in my new place..... as of yet. I am just back from one such quest for searching one of my favourite desserts ever. Google Maps was very helpful. We did find the place but they don't serve Falooda. They just "advertise" that they do. Freaking awesome, isn't it? Never mind that! So, we did find another place nearby and we (I and my second-in-command, hubby) thought to just buy one for taste testing at first. Because we have been continuously, without fail, have been disappointed since this past year when it comes to the taste we are looking for. That's not to say that the food here is not good. That is surely not the case. Their native food is awesome. BUT home food is HOME food. (I hope I am able to put it correctly.) Coming back to the point. We buy one for taste test and viola, we are disappointed again. The milk was in the process of souring. There was no vermicelli. The rose syrup was on vacation. BUT they did compensate the missing ingredients with sugar. Way much sugar! (I am glad we have a dentist appointment coming up this week!) Have you been on a quest for a particular food like this? What food made you disappointed? Image: Falooda. Source: Google

Hello, I am so glad to see you around. Oh, I miss a lot of food, from my native Italy and from the south of France where I lived 31 years. I miss Italian pizza now that we are in lockdown, what I can find here is not the same, not at all.

@LadyDuck I guess I should have expected that since you were one of the worst hit countries.

Sorry you got disappointed again. Hubby is always on the search for sausage that tastes like the home made sausage he grew up with. Can only be found 2 provinces away where he grew up 1200 km.

@paigea It is fine. I have decided I will make the damn thing myself. If I wasn't able to cook I would be starving myself.

I will have to look that up to see if it would be hard to make here. I have noticed that a lot of the ingredients needed for some foods is not that easy to find. I want to learn how to make my own rye bread but finding the ingredients I want is not easy, I only use organic foods and those are the hardest to find.

Where I live some of those things would not be easy to find @Daljinder In fact there are some foods I love like turnip greens and I can't find that either but if I were in Alabama or Georgia it would be more available.

@rebeleann The ingredients used in this dessert are not hard to find. You need sweet basil seeds, vermicelli, rose syrup, milk, ice cream and some dry fruits of your choice. Yeah some things are harder to get. It took me months to find one ingredient which I wanted for a recipe. (The one in image)
