Who did you want to clean this up?

I have a nice little park I walk at in the evenings while my little guys play. It has a handful of picnic tables, a set of bathrooms, and a nice .5 mile track for walking and running made of recycled tires. As I was leaving I see that somebody has left their dinner trash in the parking lot. Out of curiosity, I counted the number of trash cans just in the lower area, where the picnic tables and play equipment is located. A dozen, looks like they planned ahead so there would be no excuses to make a mess. Within just a few steps they could have gotten to a trash can very easily. They didn't want to. It really frustrates me to see such a mess, and I cannot help but wonder, just who did they think should have cleaned up after them??? Plus they are teaching their kids, this is how it is done. I think what upset me the most was, as they left they drove over their mess. Really?

The U.S. is one dirty country. You can't go five steps in some places, and not see liter somewhere. Yesterday, my husband cleaned up our font yard from the litter that the wind brought into it.

@mom210 I can agree with you. It's rare not to see litter, and belive me I've rolled over my fair share of it. so I understand.

Just no respect for the rest of the community is there? Very selfish of anyone to litter like that, it always boils my blood when I see that or ashtrays dumped.

That is so irresponsible, especially with rubbish bins within easy reach. No excuse!

it upsets me more because their kids are with them, learning to imitate their parents.

Some people just don't have common sense. I wonder if they just throw trash like that in their house.

Yes, many are teaching bad habits like this to the younger ones and apparently don't care. We are always shocked how much trash is in parking lots, parks, the beaches. Many just don't seem to worry about the mess they leave behind.

very true, I remember being on the beach in the evening and seeing all the empty bottles and trash left behind for the ocean to take in the night.

I’ve joined coastal clean ups three times and got frustrated that people who enjoyed their time along the beach kept on leaving their trash. They were probably confident that somebody would pick up their trash. What embarrassed me was the fact that a US war veteran was a consistent participant of the clean up even though he was on crutches. It was so embarrassing for me that a foreigner had to pick up the trash of the locals.

@mom210 Indeed but there are a few countries with disciplined people like Japan and Singapore. While eating a piece of candy, they put the wrapper in their pocket if there's not bin nearby and throw the wrapper in the garbage bin when they reach home.

That is really teaching your children bad manners. When I used to take my six children to the park we would take gloves and trash bags and pick up all the trash.

People now a days just don't seem to care, they don't feel they have any responsibility to do anything they don't want to. Laziness is getting to be a huge problem.
