Almost lost my job

February 1, 2021 2:12am CST
The pandemic really took a toll on all of us. I guess it's safe to say that everyone is affected by this pandemic. Some lives were claimed, some establishments closed for good,, and some lost their jobs. Our company was no exemption. For about a year now, our company struggled financial loss due to this pandemic, and a number of employees were separated from the company month after month after month. It was hard. Even though they were compensated, the thought of them having to look for another job will be their next struggle. This January, I was almost on the list to be on that wait list to be separated. See, before they actually separate someone, the company put them on "wait list" just to have a rain check if the finances will be enough to keep them or just pay them a sum of money and then let them go. So this time around, I must really work extremely hard to prove my value to be able to stay even longer. I wish our company will be able to recover soon so there will never be a need to let go anyone again, and so other employees will be reinstated/rehired. At times like this, I feel my mother's prayers covered me from being separated from the company. I am so grateful that despite all the trying times, I still am able to keep my job. What about you, what are you thankful for today?

I'm glad to know that you will continue working for your company. My sister lost her job and thankfully, our office made a new job opening and she was one of the chosen few. However, that was just for several months and the contract has ended. I am also hoping that she can find a new job. She is supporting 3 children.

I hope and pray she lands a good paying job soon. Things are quite challenging nowadays as we are still uncertain when all these will be over. I see my friends struggle as they lost their jobs, but thankfully, they still manage to smile and keep moving forwards with life.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to keep your job. It's definitely hard for a lot of people. I'm thankful that my husband's job is considered essential and he's been able to work.

Wow, yes! I totally agree with that. Most of the time, the things that we really should be thankful for are just around us, those that really matter to us. And good health, yes, that most especially during these times.

Ups and downs, we should always be thankful. When down there is a beautiful reason behind.

Thank you. Yes, I really hope to go back to those days where we can freely roam around. I miss travelling, too, and other stuff I used to do with my family and friends. But for now, I'll just do my best to be able to keep my job and perhaps save up so I can travel again when all these are over.
