Banning Comment Sections On Certain Websites

Two that spring to mind are Yahoo! News and Amazon. Yahoo! News has stopped people from commenting on ANY news item on their site. They conducted a little survey a while back, giving us multiple choice for our answers, and the result of all that has meant that - for months now, it has banned comments 'for the well-being of their users' or words to that effect. What are your thoughts on this? I find it terrible, actually. Free speech should not be suppressed in this way and I tend to find that the 'idiots' are found out anyway by fellow commenters. I am amazed that Amazon does not allow REPLIES to reviews anymore. For example, I dug out my UFO live 'Strangers in the Night' LP as a response to someone reviewing a newer multiple CD set of this which has ALL the concerts UFO undertook on their tour of the US. I wanted to thank the reviewer for 'inspiring me' to play my UFO LP and remembering the memories that brought back for me when I first played it. I was mortified that I could not make a comment. Obviously, I could still use the 'thumbs up' button but I find it frustrating that the majority are being punished due to others being - well, 'd!cks' is the word that springs to mind! What are your thoughts on people being banned from Twitter and Facebook? I don't agree with that either. I rather miss Trump's ramblings!

Big Tech is trying to take over. Could care less about social media.

Yahoo news ignors Canadian news, so I ignor it. And I don't go to Amazon, so that doesn't affect me, either. But if you want to talk about Facebook jail, see JJ.
