So, I got to thinking whether avocado was a fruit or vegetable since, I had half of one for lunch as part of avocado toast.. I was thinking probably fruit since it has that stone in the middle, and yes, it is classified as such,,actually as a berry with a single seed. it is different from other fruits though as it is not sweet, and has cholesterol and such. Do you ever eat avocados? Did you think it was a fruit or a veggie? Maybe you didn't think of it at all.... Not everyone likes them.

@snowy22315 No, strawberries and raspberries in the botanical sense are fruits and not berries. It is a complicated matter about how they grow from flowers with one ovary or two... difficult to remember.

@LadyDuck Hmmm, and who needs to know,,,unless you are on a quiz show..I could see that being a question they would ask, trying to trick the contestants or something..

I kind of thought of it as a veggie because it's green and I LOVE avocados.

It seems easier to think of it as a veggie than a fruit..because it tastes more like a vegetable...like tomatoes, which are fruits..but taste like a vegetable.

@snowy22315 Yeah, I just wonder sometimes why the experts classify things the opposite of what most people would think.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I guess it depends on their seeds and such.

@snowy22315 Not yet, currently the avocado is not good enough when it rains.

I believe it is technically a fruit, but here we treat it as a vegetable. I know other countries use avocados in desserts and I can't help but use it as a savory (like guacamole, salad, in a burger, etc). I adore them and buy them all the time!

They are really good in a sandwich or even in a smoothie.

@snowy22315 Oh yes, sometimes we put in smoothies too. That's about as far as I will get with avocados and sweetness.

I really don't care for avocado, but have always considered it a vegetable. Am I wrong? Yes.

Ha, HA...it is one of those grey areas it seems. They aren't very good by themselves but are good in things..like guac or lightly mixed for toast!

@kobesbuddy I know...it doesn't seem like it does it? Also, peanuts are legumes...in the bean family.

@snowy22315 When I heard that tomatoes are a fruit, I couldn't believe it!

I like them but Vince doesn't. They're quite expensive here.

I don't love them unless they are in guac, but they are a nice additon to a sandwich and decent to have ont toast.

Oh yeah?? What do you like to add? I would eat them for dessert if I knew how to make one.
