Are you fond of tough love?

My family is not a fan of encouraging each other in kind words/ways (maybe one of the reasons why I'm not an expressive person as well). I personally do not like tough love. If a person is going through a hard time, I prefer to give him/her gentle words of wisdom and time to reflect on her situation. How about you?

Of course you need to be gentle and kind so as to be heard. When you yell as you express yourself, instead of being heard there is already resistance on what is being said, delivered, or explained. It is like when you express love it is whispered to your ear and so is heard and felt but when you're angry there is distance because the words hurt the ear.

tough love doesn't mean yelling or being angry at a person, the definition of tough love is, promotion of a person's welfare, by enforcing certain constraints on them, or requiring them to take responsibility for their actions , it doesn't mean not encouraging them nor giving them words of wisdom !

If you prefer being gentle, so be it. It is good to be yourself than pretending someone else.
