Watching Birds on a Cloudy Day

Another cold and cloudy and day here. But the birds don't mind. Was watching from inside at the birds earlier. Snapped this photo of a female cardinal on the deck. She found the peanuts I hid for her under a deck chair. The blue jays did not see the hidden stash I keep for the cardinals. Not yet anyway. A cloudy dreary day was made brighter to see this cardinal. The male will be here shortly as well. They visit every day. Hoping they will also be here in the spring to raise babies. Learning to enjoy the little things in life. Hope you can do the same.

Did you get any fr**zing rain? I had enough birds at the feeder (including many cardinals) to make me wonder if Hitchcock was back there.

@CarolDM — we got a lot more than “they said” we would, but thankfully the power outages were scattered. And I must say the power company did an outstanding job of getting out in that yucky weather and fixing the outages almost as soon as they were reported. As of this moment (I haven’t checked the weather guessers in an hour, so this may have changed), we’re not supposed to get anything until Sunday night.....then they will just say “significant snow,” because after the goof earlier this week they’re probably scared to make a guess as to how much! One of the forecast models I saw said 6-8 inches, though.

@FourWalls Good about the power. Glad you took your trip when you did. We are suppose to get an "icy mix" tonight and the next few days in the teens. Stay safe and warm.

Same here. I don't see the females often. The males are always here. Remind me of my Dad. He called them redbirds.
