While responding to a comment on one of my discussions, this thought came to my mind.
Whether someone is in India, Australia, somewhere in Europe or US or in Singapore or Malaysia, there are day to day products and equipment(s) that we use and common to us.
Some of these which occasionally crop up in various discussions:
Detergents like Tide and Surf Excel- I think since these belong to multi nationals like P&G, Unilever etc they are used in many countries.
We also have Ariel but I am not sure if that is also as widespread.
Vicks, especially Vicks Vaporub- looks like this is something that people across many countries use for cold relief.
And Pepsi and Coke are soft drinks that are quite omnipresent.
Then, we have the lifts used in commercial establishments and in apartment blocks.
I see Schneider being used a lot. Alstom is also there but I have seen Schneider being used more.
There are more like Philips but then the list can go on....
May be you folks can also add and any special thoughts?

We have Disano, Borges, Delsano and a few more. Yet I had to research a bit. Some names sounded Italian but I am not 100% sure about them like Fusilli, and a few more.

And I have been to US and England and in some stores there, Halidiram products especially Salted snacks were available.
They are very widely available in England.

Yes, Vicks is available everywhere and Indian shops sell many items from India that others too look for.
Basmati rice, Indian mangoes come to mind.
At a broader level, I can vouch the world is our oyster. Cricket can be a common topic and since I am interested in a few other sports, common topics are dime a dozen.
Again, common folks want to live in peace like when India - reminiscent of Lagaan - pulled off a series win in Australia after the infamous "36", even Pakistanis celebrated. Today Siraj celebrated Ashwin ton more than the latter!
We need leaders who unite us or at least not those who divide us.

Deep insight. I have heard and read that Dosa is one of the favorite foods in Singapore.
Is that right?

You are so right. We are living in a Global village. But then I realize that I have not used the ones in your list for a while. So stuck with local brands... Patanjali and Dabur

Our choices are often influenced by a lot of factors, so that is fine. Even I have different brands like Wipro Safewash, Ezee, Voom etc which might not be there in other countries.

As the unofficial Indian President, you should promote some Indian brands.
Britannia and Sunfeast make god biscuits so you may as well promote them!!

One thing about American companies and American brands, they do tend to find their way all over the world. There are also quite a few foreign brands here in the States, but they are few and far between, and usually specialty things labeled as "imported."

I bought a few shirts when I was in Jersey City/NY city and some of them were made in Bangladesh.
Yet Dettol was not much visible there.
