I’m Still Not Around

We have been in Vermont for the last several days staying in our son’s in-law addition in his ski chalet. We have gone skiing and snow shoeing! We stuck to the beginner slopes after taking lessons together. Had to rent everything, but that’s what beginners do. We were lucky that very few people were present. The good thing about snow is that it isn’t as cold out as it is with frigid temperatures. Exercise and fun kept us toasty. Having a fireplace in our in-law place was awesome. Had to return Saturday for hubby’s 2nd Covid vaccine. He feels great today, so we are returning to Vermont for a few more days and leaving soon to celebrate Valentine’s Day up there. Our older son’s father-in-law received his 2nd vaccine on Friday and developed fever, chills, and a headache. Today is our grandson’s birthday! We feel so blessed. I will try to myLot from Vermont if I have the time.

I skied from the time I could walk. I was up to double diamonds and even skiied in Aspen one year. I can ski anything on the East coast. I don't like the cold any longer though so I haven't been in many years.

Sounds like you are enjoying yourself it sounds like fun I have never used snowshoes before sounds like fun. Glad your hubbys second round of shot went well. I hope you have a nice Valentine’s Day.

I’ve been dying to snowshoe forever. Yes, we love it up there and our son keeps begging us to use it. It’s almost like living in a hotel. He hired a caretaker who cleans daily when we aren’t in the room, makes the bed, and starts fires in the fireplace before we get back. She wears a mask and gloves, too!

Hubs is fine, thank goodness. They warned him the fever, etc. could happen for 24 hours. So grateful he didn’t get that. Thanks so much. My grandson is playing goalie at a hockey game. Will call him back later.

We must still be careful and wear masks, social distance, and wash our hands due to the variants and different strains of the virus. At least he won’t be able to infect anyone.

@DianneN my son in law John’s family is from Stowe . He has lots of relatives there still. They sold the land to the von trap family. It was his grandmothers farm lol

Thank you! Hubs had his second Pfizer and had no problems, thank goodness. I get to go on Feb. 28th. We are in Stowe. Skiing is a fortune here and so is the cute town, but staying at our son's for free makes it all more bearable. lol Okemo is wonderful, too!

Everything is fine. Hubs did very well and we are back in the mountains. The fire was going once we returned thanks to the caretaker.

Happy belated birthday to your grandson! I was surprised to hear you took lessons . . . I thought for sure you were already a pro! That's good your husband had done well with the vaccine . . . so many said the 2nd one was a bit of a doozy. Glad you are having fun!!

@DianneN Wow, how are your legs? I remember getting very, very sore after skiing - definitely a work out. I was told if you get the 2nd one, make sure you are very hydrated with lots of liquids. I know the family made sure your grandson had a nice birthday!!!

I’ve skied before, but hubs never had, so the lessons were a good review. We skied again today for hours! Thanks you! All is well with the vaccine and our grandson had a wonderful birthday.
