Does anyone else have that one certain friend?

You know, the one who moans and complains about EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter if it's a big deal or something trivial--they are moaning and groaning about anything at all. . The weather, they hate snow and ice (a lot of people told her to move, she has money) they want a dog but they don't get one, they are mean to everyone they see, there is something wrong with everyone they know, they aren't even nice to their own children. I have put up with this for years because she claimed she needed me in her life to be her friend. But she doesn't. She just needs an audience, and someone to say, 'poor you!' I knew she had grown bitter and hateful, but now it's ridiculous. Yes, she needs friends. .She craves attention, but her negativity just chases everyone away. Maybe she can find some who are not so burned out on listening to constant complaints, moaning, and groaning. It's not going to be me anymore. Done.

I sometimes can get on the complaint train, but I hope I am not that bad!

I think we all get on that train sometimes, and that's normal behaviour. The person I was dealing with, a longtime friend, is so bitter and full of anger all the time, she is simply impossible for me to be around. She is still mad at her ex because he left her years and years ago, and she raised her son by herself. She has money, not millions but more than enough. Her son is so soured from her hate, he is married and is a decent fellow, but he says they have agreed to not have any children, because he has nightmares they will turn out like his mother. He says he couldn't keep his mother from coming around, and he will not produce any grandchildren for her to show her hate to. How sad is that?

I did it, I won't say it was easy. We had a long friendship. But she isn't a nice person and it's been this way for a long time now. Many of her friends and family have tried to talk to her about if there is anything terribly wrong, but if there is she isn't telling us. I fear she is mentally ill, she just isn't the same.

People like that are toxic and aren't really friends. Good for you, for standing up for yourself and cutting a toxic relationship out of your life.

@kaylachan Thanks, no I won't do that. I have put up with it for years because we shared such a long friendship, but I'm done now.

Some people are truly toxic. I gave it my best shot, but I'm done. Thanks.

@JimBo452020 I start reading a post and if they are that kind of people I stop. I need all the minutes I can have to have fun.

I am thankful it's not a family member, that would be hard.

Take care of you. I have a friend that finds a way to drive everyone away too. Not exactly by moaning, but other unpleasant behaviour.

@MarieCoyle I have limits on what I'll put up with. We have to enjoy life too.
