time and money is or are ? grammar check

When I write a sentence like Time and money is wasted, I confuse whether to use is or are time and money are wasted Shall I take time and money as a single unit or not? Kindly add your inputs

The subject of the verb consists of two things: 'time' and 'money'. Therefore you should use the plural - 'are'.

why don't we consider time and money as a single unit because it denotes the same meaning

"Lots of time and money" is plural, but "a lot of time and money" is singular. In your case is plural.
