Is 700 really considered a lot?

I read another 'Lotters post earlier today that said something about 700 word articles. Asking basically if anyone had posted articles here on myLot of 700 words, and something about the longest article on myLot or something to that effect. The person who wrote it blocked me and so I just skimmed the article. I didn't realize she had blocked me until I clicked on the article. Anyway, this got me thinking about how minuscule 700 words is. I have been writing online for YEARS and a lot of that writing has been blogs/freelance articles and such, and most places I have written for want 1000 plus words per assignment. Of course I have written things under a thousand words many times, but I like to write. On top of that, I like to write a lot. I like to be descriptive, some might say too much so. But that's their prerogative. I just found it funny that to this person they thought 700 words was a lot. I was going to comment on that article and say that I have left comments more than 700 words before. Maybe not here, but on Persona Paper I know I have. So. Yeah. Those are my thoughts right now.

She might have not have meant to block you. A guy on here thought I blocked him, so I checked, and indeed he was blocked. I still don't understand how it happened, but apparently it's happened to others on here too.

She probably did. I've had a lot of people block me because they didn't agree with things I've said.

I guess for some people who do not write a whole lot, 700 words could seem to be a lot. I understand that writers, write much more than that though and it is heir norm.

Wow 700 words I don’t think I could do that I would really have to sit down and figure it out if I ever had to

Also, I just accidentally blocked you like an idiot. I unblocked and refollowed. You're the second person I've done this to lately (that I know of).

I think it just depends on how often someone writes. For someone like you or me, 700 words aren't all that much, but people who don't write often may find it to be a lot. Plus, I would say it also depends on how much one enjoys writing. But that's all my opinion lol.

I think our outlooks on writing are very similar. I could write 700 words and not even feel like its seven hundred. But I do like to write, like you so that probably helps.

@thislittlepennyearns Right. Now, 1,000 words do feel like a lot for me sometimes, but that's because I proofread it twice (as my own rule), and I'm not a big fan of proofreading lenghty content. But I need to make sure it's good to go before I submit it.

I don't think that is a lot at all.

Could be accidental block? Not sure. For 700 words it depends on the topic?

@thislittlepennyearns Yup just depends on the topic

I've been leaving a lot of longer comments more recently and I'm sure it exceeds that many words. I never bother counting the words I leave here.

I don't think that 700 is a lot but then again I also write for hubpages.

@thislittlepennyearns It is for me. It took almost a year before I actually got a payment each month but every since then i receive payments like clockwork.

@HazySue I'll have to look into it. I tried once years ago to write with them and it never went anywhere. But I'll give it a shot. Thanks

700 words is only a beast when you don't really have much to say. But when you do it's pretty easy. I've much more than that on many occasions but typically not here.

I don't think it has anything to do with how much you have to say. I think it has more to do with how you say what you're going to say

700 words is not a lot. At least, in my opinion. And I know I have written posts and even comments that have had more than 700 words. I think part of it is that this is not a writing site in the sense of the word "writing," in that most of the people here are not writers, and neither are they READERS. These are important considerations here on this site. To that end, while I still do sometimes write longer posts, just because, I also know that my targeted audience here are non writers, and non readers, and so typically shorter posts will do much better here than longer ones. Likewise, shorter comments work better as well.

I guess I approach writing a little differently than a lot of other people here, and on other sites like this. I write for ME. I mean yeah, I like the interaction. I have made several really good friends here so don't misread this. I love the togetherness, the friendship, and the things myLot has taught me. But I write for myself a lot of the time. So I don't direct any comments or posts to a targeted audience. I know there are people that won't read long posts or will post comments on them that make no sense because they didn't read the whole post. On the other hand, I know that there are a few picky readers that won't read short posts. I also know that there are a lot of people who don't read my posts entirely because they get offended by the things I share or say or believe in.
