Now, that is a very good question.A lot of us have worked one, two or even more jobs in our lifetime, especially those of us without a college education and had to settle for any job we could get our hands on at times. the thing of it is, a lot of those jobs just seem to be low paying dead end jobs that you are not even appreciated for. A lot of us had no choice in the matter at the time though. I am so glad to be working from home on my own now so I do not have to be stuck in jobs like that anymore. It doesn't pay as much but it helps quite a bit with the bills and extras and I now do something I love to do which is earn online from home. My problem was not really the jobs I was doing, it was some of the people I worked with or for. Have you ever been stuck in a job that you hated or did you find a job you truly loved to do?

I once had a position I thought I would really love--but the person under me in line for the position I was hired for (and qualified for) was occupied by the most hateful woman ever put on this earth. I never saw anyone act so ugly. I put up with her hate as long as I could, I tried so hard to ignore her criticism and comments, and I finally decided I had enough. So I put in my notice. I hadn't told anyone I was doing that. Evidently some of the other people there had been her victims, too, because they marched in the head office and put in their notice. So the only one there was going to be the boss, and the hateful lady. I never meant to start anything, I had another position to go to without HER being there. But the next thing that happened was she was transferred out. And the boss begged everyone else to stay with a raise. So I guess we all came out ahead, but no one planned on that outcome.

I have been in many situations like that. It is bad enough we have to work our tails off to earn a few dollars but to be treated like you mean nothing is the worst to deal with while doing so. Hope you got your raise. You deserve it for putting up with that period! I left many times just because of that stuff.

I stayed for about 6 more months, then I was offered another position with better pay, and better perks, so I took it and worked there for years. And I heard later the mean hateful lady didn't last at that position either and got fired. She just wasn't a nice person, I guess, or extremely unhappy. Unexpected that it went down the way it did, for sure.

In the past I have stuck with something just because. But it has been a long time since I have been forced to do something I don't like. Over the years I have invested my money well, and so my decision to work for someone is by choice, not by force. But I still don't necessarily love what I do. I'd rather be retired. This job currently just pays too much. lol

LOL. Well, we can never have too much money. I am lost when it comes to investing to feel safe enough to do it without losing it somehow.

@porwest Yeah. I have tried to learn something about it but I still don't totally understand it but I do understand the risk involved though. That is the scary part.

@stephcjh That is where learning come into play. Understanding something removes some of the fear.

I do but I love being paid so I stay. Don't know for how long but I am still here. I'm trying not to be picky with my job but it's really hard at times.

I've had some Really Bad Bosses, even some that were criminal (embezzling friends from a non-profit, etc.). But overall, I've been lucky enough to love what I do.

That is wonderful !!! I hope to make it to retire some day too but I do enjoy working for myself from home now too. It is so much better for me in so many ways and also because of health issues.

I have worked only two years in a small private office, we only were few people. I met my husband there (he was the younger associate). He decided to open his own cabinet, he asked me to follow and one year later we were married.

By stephcjh @stephcjh Yes, I have been stuck in jobs I hated. I thought I did find something I really wanted to do but it just did not work out and so I am not doing it anymore and then thought I wanted to do something else and that did not work out so am working online now.

Very good question..many years ago, I tried to do jobs I hated because of the payment. After 2 weeks, 2 months and the other one, 6 months, I left. I went self-employed and for 14 years I have been enjoying my job. Ignore people because they are not the ones paying your bills.

Very true but it was so hard to ignore people when they are literally in your face and in your business every single day. I hated it. Happy for you that you are now self employed. That is the best way to be if it can be done.
