Probably because they found evidence of water (and life) on Mars.

Maybe they found something else of high value, but I don't wanna go to that, I just care about the science to it, the amount of effort to get to mars is unthinkable

@ricotivi Yes, maybe. Who knows? I would be scared to go to Mars. Space, the unknown, is scary to me.

@AngelisaQT well don't be, soon the world will get use to it, I believe what Elon Musk said that we are interplanetary creatures not just earthlings, somehow in the future the movies come true like the past movies that we see now, If I have a chance I would like to see that if we can live longer

I think that it's because humanity is insatiably curious and our curiosity focuses at the moment on our Solar System. NASA has already sent missions to the outer planets which have told us a lot about their makeup. Mars is the closest and most accessible planet, so in order to find out more about it, it is the next big step to land on it and to bring back samples so that we know whether or not it once held life.

That's human nature to begin with. They just want to be the first to venture it.

We used to live on Mars and left Mars to live on Earth so it makes sense that we should go back to live on Mars where we came from.

Might be, I do hope not only Mars, we should learn to know and have the capability to go anywhere we want, we're not supposed to be locked up in a bubble, but that's only me, I'm open for opinion
