Update to the myLot Earnings Algorithm

You will notice a significant change to the myLot earnings algorithm beginning with today’s update for yesterday’s earnings.
Most users will see an increase in the amount earned vs. the old algorithm. However, some users with lower-quality contributions will see a decrease. We encourage everyone to revisit the myLot Discussion Guidelines, http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx, to gain a full understanding of what our community expects. And don’t forget to fill out your Interests and start discussions related to those Interests.
We’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating since myLot is expanding at a rapid rate, and many users may not have heard. Our goal is to reward quality contributions to the myLot community. We’re not here to reward low-quality contributions, or even worse, attempts to game the earnings algorithm.
We feel that making changes like these will contribute to a better user experience for everyone at myLot.
Thanks to everyone for continuing to make myLot a HUGE success!

Thank you myLot! Maybe this will help weed out the yes, no answers. Or the i dont knows. I did notice a difference in the amout of earnings, but a fast question? How come the post count isnt moving? Mine has been suck at the same number for two days, but yet my earnings has increased?

I'm also curious about my post count...it's staying the same. Are the posts now going to be reviewed and are we only to be credited for those that are considered "quality"?
It's nice to know that those who take this seriously are to be rewarded...hopefully this will weed out those who are only out to earn $ leaving crap responses! Thanks!! :O)

thank you myLot staff for adding my earnings today. I've earned $2+ only for my discussion. It's really great!

maybe your posts aren't quality enough, do you give short one ot two word answers? do they relate to the topic?

Yes, I have also noticed the changes by mylot. There are so many people that simply to increased their number of posting they just typed yes, nos and thanks, some time even personal attacks. Mylot has made great job to discourage the useless and worthless debate. This new changes really give confidence to genuine person and maintain the quality of forum.

I totally agree. My count moves up, but for every 6 or 7 posts I make, I only see an increase of 2 or 3 posts. I have NEVER posted one word answers. In fact almost all my answers are i paragraph form because I will answer the question and try to stimulate some more conversation related to the topic. Alost all my posts are like this one. How do we know exactly what they qualify and what they won't. I don't think my counter is screwed up because I'm posting and getting some of them are showing up.

Yea I agree...I may be new here but the yes, no, I dunno answers and even the silly threads like "do you think I'm hot" is really killing it for me already..not that I'm goin to leave but weeding through them to find good topics gets frustrating....

Thank u for the reward! Going through the discussions to find something to respond I was just shocked by the absurdity of most of the discussions - some were quite banal to say the least - and couldn't help compare with Yahoo Answers!
And now, you have sent this bolt from the blue!! Good! I welcome your decision to weed out low-quality contributions. I do hope this will bring a marked change here.
I have a SUGGESTION - pls add a spell check system - it will help in reducing the spelling mistakes.

Geat idea. I have also noticed allot of the silly questions have disappeared which is good. It is good to see quality and useful discussions on here and just not a load of nonsense.
Well done for a great Site!
Keep going with the improvements.

THis is the good thing mylot is doing. Ihope they review their policy from time to time. I also have one more point to add that please keep a min. length for startign a new discussion as some of the posting have very good heading and when we open the post its just a line asking what we think. Though it raises the question but there is no other information. hopefully the this time the creteria of quality will take this into account too.

Thank you My Lot! I'm new here, and I'm still learning my way around. I've been trying to find topics that I find of great interest and leave quality responses and I've been watching my earnings grow. I'm happy to find a place where I can make a few dollars doing something I enjoy doing for free anyways.
I didn't post very many responses yesterday and was totally surprised at today's earnings increase. When I read your alert notice, I couldn't have been happier. I'm glad to know that the earnings have changed and that this change will hopefully weed out people who are only here to earn money from one answer/lame responses and topic starters. Thanks guys!!:O)

Thank you for making this move. When I heard about myLot, I thought it was a great concept and a good forum for those serious about writing. But, when I got here, I was a bit discouraged by the meaningless and nonsense discussions that were going on. It made it difficult for those of us who have something to say to have our discussions noticed, because in order to find those meaningful posts you must weed out all the low-quality discussions.
Again, thanks for taking notice and making the changes. This will hopefully encourage members to choose their topics wisely, research them a little, and then construct a meaningful discussion that will be engaging to the majority.
