The Art of Procrastination

I’ll think about it.....

I came real close to writing this tomorrow because I think the planets will align better then and I’ll have a better perspective. Added to that, it is raining and my paper might get damp and clog my pen. Uh, wait a minute: I know absolutely nothing about astrology and I do not use pen and paper but those are really good excuses to wait until tomorrow right? Procrastination is not just some willy-nillie way of getting out of work but it takes practice in order to refine the art and get away with it. The old, “my dog ate my homework” was overused 100 years ago, but it’s still tossed around every now and then because someone is procrastinating practicing their procrastination techniques. I guess that kinda goes with one that Must have been pretty prevalent back around 4,000 years ago because we have a writer in Proverbs saying that a slothful man will say that there’s a lion in the streets. In other words, “I ain’t gettin’ out of bed because ? Now THAT’s a good one!! For myself, I’m retired. Because of that I can sit back and say “by the time I fix the lawnmower it will be too late to mow so I’ll do all that in the morning”, and get away with it. Another technique I learned not too long ago is to grab my pipe and fill it with some good cavendish and look like I am pondering a situation that needs attention. Heck, I can get at least 2 hours out of that one. My latest of course is, “I’ll take out the trash as soon as I’m finished writing on Mylot!! Yup, that’s another couple of hours in the bag!

In order to perfect an art, one must practice diligently and rise above the storms. Why..., some people take years to be a proficient contributor to whatever medium of accomplishments they may have obtained. Being a proper procrastinator is no different albeit it takes a little longer because we have a habit of waiting until the next day to practice our art. It is a most proper paradox is it not?

Like chocolate, everything in moderation Judy. That said, “have a job, large or small, do it well or not at all”. :)
