What did you do during the winter storm?

so the other week temperatures dipped down to the single digits, with a wind chill going to below zero... and many places losing power...
Thankfully, a friend of mine didn't lose power at her place, and she opened up her home for many of us to ride out the cold winter storm.
Her place didn't have central heat/ air but she did have a fireplace, so everyone stayed in the living room... the younger adults (20yrs -50yrs old) helped gather firewood, chop it up and made sure the fire didn't die out (even taking turns watching the fire at night to keep it on)... the older adults (70-90 yrs old) got to sit back and relax by the fire and told us stories about when they were younger...
We were lucky enough to still have power to use the stove to cook with (which helped warm up the kitchen). And we used thicker blankets to section off rooms We weren't using (to conserve heat and keep the living room warm)... and wore multiple layers ...
The weather has warmed back up, the power is back up and running, and everyone has gone home to their own homes... and as I am sitting here writing this, I am missing the warmth that those below zero winter storm days brought with it...

My relatives and myself just had to be careful not to put toilet paper in the toilet due to the water not flowing due to the water pipes either being broken or frozen. It was a vacation from work for my brother in law and nephew.
