Easter candy

Today I went to the store to pick up my husband's cookies. As I entered the store, the first display I find is the easter display. I bought myself a chocolate bunny, but the funniest thing I noticed were egg cartons. Yes, egg cartons. Normally, you would find them behind glass or in the fridge section of the store. Not the normal room temperature section. I guess they must be a new brand of candy egg, or perhaps plastic. Either way it was deffently something you don't see everyday.

You got me hungry for a chocolate bunny I have not eaten one in ages. I remember as a child when I got a chocolate bunny I always started eating off the eyes, nose and decorations and then I began nibbling at the ears.

@sharon6345 I try to get a bunny or something every year. My favorite were the cadbery eggs. My mom loved to share them with me.

@sharon6345 As it does for most people. Good thing it's only once a year.

It's right around the corner. I wasn't sure which of my parents would make mine, but it was always fun to find. I loved our annual easter egg hunt, too. My sister and brother-in-law would fill plastic Easter eggs with dollar amounts on them. After we found ten eggs each, we would trade in the eggs for the cash.

Me, too. I make it a point, or my husband makes it a point to treat me to an Easter treat once a year. Just so that I have some of that back.@CarolDM

@kaylachan those things are bad news, and they don't have them in the candy aisle, oh no they are on the end cap!

Ah, the Easter candies are out - I better go get some. Were those egg cartons possibly filled with confetti eggs? I think certain cultures use them for Easter . . . we used to make some them for fun. I've also seen fake white eggs that come in cartons that you could color yourself.

@kaylachan Ah, I can understand that. I am short, and sometimes can't get stuff on the top shelves at the store, especially when the stock is way back of the shelves. I was thinking too that the cartons may have had egg shaped sidewalk chalk.

I'm thinking that's what they were. As I told Jim above, that I didn't wish to risk damaging the carton. So I didn't try to pull it down. Most of you who don't already know, I'm in a wheelchair and while the cartons were where I could see them I could barely reach them comfortably.

I enjoyed it just fine, thanks. Way too cute to eat, but it was small enough I was able to without issue.

The world does make staying on a diet next to impossible. Every couple of months, it seems there's a new food-based holiday.

@xstitcher I get the same thing from my doctor. If you're one pound over what your weight should be for your age and height, they tend to freak out. I've been told I need to talk to a nutritionist, I need to exercises more I need to do more and more. I'm well aware of the health risks being overweight can cause, but at the same time, I also have Cerebral Palsy. I'm also in a manual wheelchair part-time. I also walk around my house. What a doctor fails to understand (because they aren't thought this in medical school) is that CP is like a fingerprint. I am more capable than some people in some areas, but less in others. My brain can't tell me if I'm working my muscles too hard. At the same time, some of that weight is muscle tone in my arms from pushing a wheelchair around. It's from over the years needing to find alternative methods to get dressed, brush my hair and get around on a really bad day. The person with CP muscles works three to five times harder than the average able-body person when they do day-to-day tasks. I don't sit on the couch for hours at a time because I'm lazy. I still play Pokemon go every single day. I cook dinner for my husband and myself almost every night. I lost some weight, sure. No, I can't get on their scale in the office. I do know that I am trying and If I lose, I lose. But, if I don't I'll be fine, too. That's just how life works. I am nowhere close to the people shown on shows like my 600-pound life, begging for surgical intervention because they let themselves go and now regret it. So, believe me I know what you're going through. I understand both sides of the coin.
At the end of the day, the only way you'll lose is if you want it bad enough. The only way it's going to work is if you find a method that works for you, and you stick to it.

@kaylachan Isn't that the truth. Normally I wouldn't care if my doctor hadn't put me on this diet. They say I'm obese, and yet I look around and see people way fatter than me, and I'm guessing they're not on diets.

I am very fussy about chocolate I don’t eat it often but it has to be really special to entice me.

My husband was surprised by the size of the bunny I came home with. We normally get the large ones, but the small ones were all that was on display.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how the workers decide to stack the shelves. It's cool though, I was able to eat the smaller one in one sitting. Sometimes I don't want to eat them, because they are too cute looking.@jstory07

The egg things you mentioned remind me of those Cadbury Chocolate Eggs they sell at Easter time. They are one of my favorites.

You've never seen Easter candy before in egg cartons? They've been sold that way here in Michigan since I was little if I'm remembering correctly and at the very least for thirty years. But not everything is available all over. Maybe there's a candy shortage and some are sending their stock further away this year.

I honestly don't know. All I know, it's something I'm not used to seeing. The foil-covered chocolate eggs, sure. But not ones that feel like actual egg cartons you'd find in a fridge.

I've seen those candy egg cartons before. Some people think actual eggs should be kept outside of the fridge. But, most prefer to keep them in the fridge - but on a middle shelf, near the back of the fridge, rather that in the door.
