Intervention police stopped my son

Good day friends
I’m not in the best of moods today, so I’m not sure how active I’ll be here.
Basically, today my son was stopped by the intervention police. He was driving a car and they stopped him and searched the whole car as well as him and his friend. People who live in my country know how they behave when they stop someone, so I don't know if that's the case in other countries and if you can understand my fear the moment he called me. Basically, their behavior towards the two young men was very rude. I believe that my son did not like it at all and I am sorry that he had to go through that.
Since, of course, they did not find anything, they called the traffic police, who were very kind, but he wrote him two offenses, because he was driving a vehicle with a foreign license plate, and he did not have insurance. Some here know that I wrote earlier that the car was very old and bad, so the policeman could have written any other sentence, but ok.
What I know for now is that the fine will be between 300-600 euros, but what scares me more is that he does not lose his probationary driver's license.
I see that he is afraid of going to court, because he is still a child (at least for me) and he has never encountered such situations, because we are a family that has never received any punishment (not counting my brother), but unfortunately not I can do nothing but pray to God for the least punishment and not have his driver's license revoked.
Sorry for the long post, but I had to get it out of me.
Did you have any unpleasant experiences with the police?

@Nevena83 The plate here is not according to your nationality but the place where you are resident. We are both Italian, our plates are Swiss and of Canton Ticino, because we live here. Even having a plate of another Swiss Canton would not be acceptable.

@LadyDuck My brother always buys a vehicle with foreign license plates, because we learned that we can drive, because we have foreign (Slovenian) citizenship. So whenever he bought himself a new car we drove his old car, because as you know we live in the countryside, 15 km away from the city, and we often need it. Of course, that is not an excuse. I'm just sorry this happened to my son.

Oh no...Would you be able to get a lawyer that would take no fee unless you win the case? Driving without insurance they really are very hard on here too. You usually have to buy some very expensive auto insurance if you are caught. You could tell the lawyer that you don't want son to lose the license and you want to make a deal with the judge that you use the money you wanted to use for the fine to buy insurance or something like that. Someone is going to have to get a job there.

The problem is that here they do not offer the possibility to cancel the penalty if the insurance is bought later, but he must be responsible for the fact that he was not insured at the time when they stopped him.

He is fine now, I will have to pay 350 euros for those two offenses, but I believe that it was not a pleasant experience for him.

Now I understand better what happened and glad he won't lose his license but I think the fine is rather steep. I only had one encounter back in Latvia a long time ago and there the police are really rough so it is best to avoid them

How old is your son? It wouldn't be good if he lost his license before he even got an actual one. I hope it all works out.

It is a vehicle with foreign license plates and it is impossible to register it, because it is old, bad and because we have lost contact with the owner. So for that reason they would not be able to arrange insurance.
