When Do You Decide It Is Break Time?

It is hard for me to choose a break time when working from home. I know that breaks cannot be chosen if you work for an employer most times though.
I am always dedicated to my work so it is hard for me to break away from it until I just get too tired to go on any further.
What decides your break time?

I haven't worked for the past four years, but my last job was a work-from-home for a call center. Back then, I nearly blew my eyes out because they were more concerned about numbers than customer service. There wasn't any breathing room between calls, and that made going on any breaks (undocumented health breaks, as well as paid coffee and lunch breaks) difficult to go on on time, and difficult to be able to take entirely. By that, I mean if you had to take a health break at some point prior to a coffee or lunch break, you no longer had a full 15, 30, or 60 minutes for those breaks. And, that I blame on globalization, because prior to then, breaks were never cut short.
Now, when I am writing online or doing some semblance of housework, I stop as needed to rest. Things that used to take less than an hour for me to write now sometimes take days. Some things that I write on myLot can take me hours. It just depends om how my eyes are feeling. Some days, they just do not have the stamina. It's the same with my legs. I am a bit of a minimalist, so my home always looks neat and clean. When I do clean, I take it one room at a time, and sometimes one room is all I can handle for the day.

I know exactly what you mean. My eyes get so tired and sometimes puffy after working long hours. Everything these days seems to be such a rat race with no down time to actually relax.
I have started to do some of my spring cleaning as well. I also take it one room at a time because of the time I have to put into it plus my health conditions as well.
It is going to take me forever to do too.

@stephcjh Yes, sometimes we all get unexpected company. But, regardless, as long as we don't know that anyone is coming, and our homes are relatively clean anyway, we have all the time in the world. So, it doesn't matter how long it takes, those same rooms that we didn't get done today will still be there for us tomorrow. It isn't failing to put your health first and take a break (even if it goes on for a week).

@Chellezhere Right. I get things done and it seems likke once you get one thing done, by the time you get back to it again, it is ready to start all over so I just do what I can and yes my home is clean and organized but still.

It is hard for me to even take a break for lunch meals as I still keep working online most of the time. I just hate to actually stop what I am doing and just do one thing. I feel like I would waste quality time if I stopped to eat but that's just me.
I do stop for supper though to actually enjoy it and relax.
