Overdoing My Exercise

I'm an 'all or nothing' kinda gal. For the last few weeks exercise has been a no-no, using the cold weather as a (very poor) excuse not to go out. Last week was different as I was at Mum's, the weather was excellent so to stay in would have been a waste of a visit, so out we popped.
Back home one of the first things I did Monday morning was to have a bath. Mum had hers taken out so I always look forward to my bubbles! Led down I noticed that my belly looked a bit wobbly without getting too personal here..so I made a point of going on a 3 mile walk after breakfast.
I had musical accompaniment, which is a must for me, to keep up the motivation. It didn't do much to drown out the traffic noise (one of my pet hates) but enough to put a smile on my face, which is what it's all about, right?
Well, the smile turned to a grimace once I reached a hill. Usually, I breeze up this without any bother but not this time. However, I was determined NOT to stop (a bit like when I used to ride a bike uphill..never gave the motorists the satisfaction of watching me fail) so it was an achievement to conquer this hill, then another one on the same road! I am a glutton for punishment!
Back home I was relieved it was all over but glad that I was able to finish the walk without having a heart attack. What my thinking was behind heaving out a dead Boston Fern in my raised flower bed soon afterwards is anyone's guess..but I managed that too..in about 20 minutes!! Now there is a cute dwarf conifer in its place that is currently making friends with its bigger cousin.
I hope I stick to this exercise regime as I have no excuses now. The blue sky has been something else this week.
Lovely!

Happy to hear you're back on track. Developing habits can be hard at first, but get easier over time. Good luck.

It is no mean feat to walk 3 miles !
I just walk at a rapid pace for half an hour every morning.

I used to be able to walk for miles and miles... now I can barely do a kilometre. (Heel spur and wonky knees and degenerative disc disease ain't fun.)
