It's a topic that I discussed with my BFF. I told her about Mom forgetfulness and sometimes would leave the stove unattended, so she suggested to get an induction cooker. She said it's safer as it would turn off on it's own if it's get too hot. But it's not fun to cook on induction cooker. Image: Pentec Online Malaysia Store

I prefer my gas rangetop and electric ovens. The ovens can bake, roast, broil and could be switched to convection for all three settings. Nothing like it. My brother has an induction stove and needed special cookware. Otherwise, I know nothing about them.

That's true. The flat surface is not suitable for my current cookware.

@prinzcy That’s the problem with induction cooking.

I've never cooked on an induction so I don't know how different it would be. Before my mom passed away I was always worried about her leaving the stove on. This might have worked for us since it turns off on it's own.

That would well in my case too. I might need different cookware though.

What other options do you have? We tried an induction hob for the first time last year because we have a monster gas cooker which is permanently on, and in summer it's too hot, so we turned it off and used the hob instead for a couple of months. At first we didn't like it much but we got used to it.

I still have my stove. I found good price induction cooker at the hardware store as well. Personally, I would prefer the stove. It feel more satisfying to cook using it.

This is a good idea. I could use one of these. This would be much safer

It is. But you might need new cookware for it.

I haven't used an oven/stove in years---between my crockpot, foreman grill and microwave everfything is done!
