What makes your decision?

Sometimes it is better to be kind than to be right.
Last week, while retrieving Self Learning Kits (SLKs) for Junior High schools, I have seen their eyes being tired with the situation they are in, just to get through with their studies. The educational system that we are in right now seems to be...(heaved a deep sigh)
When I picked up their new SLKs, I am not sure of what will I do, will I just let the SLKs sit there and have it distributed the following day or will I tell them that have to picked it up so that they can finish early?
But then...
There has been no weekends for them. School time is not from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, now it beyond those hours. It is very tiring for them, I always asked them how was it, did they finished everything and they will tell me, "ma'am, it is hard!"
So, what was my decision?
I told them they can just picked it up, when they are okay to do their SLKs.
Then another situation came.
With the road clearing, there has been arguments about this certain owner of the plant box that has to be demolished, and after few days, she said yes with one condition, if possible, the team who are assigned for the clearing, can leave those branches of mango for now and cut those branches when they are ready to be picked.
One official said, no.. Law is law. And this woman is not a voter of this community.
I said, let's leave those branches for now, it won't take two weeks before they are ready to be picked. CAN WE JUST BE HUMAN AND BE CONSIDERATE? Yes, she is not a voter here, but she is living/residing here.
I know i am quite soft-hearted, but...
I won! My point was taken.

that was a fair compromise with the non-voter.
there was someone here who extended their garage down to the end of the sidewalk. they had to shorten it because their street became part of the bayanihan lane.
schoolwise, my niece's schedule is mwf (junior high).
she's one of the top students in her class yet she admits to struggling.

You mean she's waiting for the mango fruit to be ready for picking/harvest?

You made a wise decision with the school children. Without time off from work, a person becomes bored and unmotivated to do their best.
Yes, I agree in this situation about the branches. Some people can be very strict when it comes to rules. At times it is necessary to maintain or and discipline but not in this instance. The job was not urgent so using a bit of common sense and waiting for the mangos to be ripened first showed some good faith and made the lady happy.
