The Cat In The Box

Whenever Dr. Seuss set out to pen the iconic "The Cat In The Hat," he had it all wrong. Cats are never in hats. But they are always in boxes, and always into boxes. I am not sure exactly what the fascination is. But cats sure do love boxes. I had one I wanted to use for something, so my wife decided to put it into my closet in my man room so the cat would not get into it. Sitting here MyLotting I heard some rustling, only to look inside the closet and see Grayson inside the box inside the closet.

@porwest You are so right cats love boxes. I find that the cats I had like all kinds of places to lay themselves besides boxes. Cats are smart and Grayson probably smelled the box and knew how to get to it.

@Hannihar Just long enough for me to notice he was in there so he could give me that "screw you" look. lol

To this day I find anything Dr. Seuss to be short of genius. All of his books are great reads. As for Grayson, he's a real hoot too. lol

@CarolDM Thank you about Grayson. I agree about Dr. Seuss. I guess the only consolation is it is the family's decision to do it. Still, I am sure that is not a decision that is made without outside pressure. I say leave the man's legacy alone and leave his stories alone. I don't think he intended to be racist in anything he wrote, and the fact that anyone finds anything racist in it now just means too many people have WAY too much time on their hands.

@porwest Dr. Seuss was a classic, they should leave his books alone. Grayson is very pretty.

@porwest that's true. I could buy toys, yet it would be a waste. They prefer the boxes more.

Very true Jim! My cat would love to jump into a box of any kind. Christmas boxes and wrapping paper were a particular favorite, lol.

@porwest I guess they find safety when they are hidden away like that usually ready to pounce!

Plastic bags seem to fascinate them too. It's so weird, but for them, I guess it's like Christmas every day. lol

It probably started out as “The Cat in the Hat Box,” but that didn’t rhyme and “The fox in the box” wouldn’t have made sense, so.....

They sure do love boxes. There are some great photos of cats in boxes. However, I've never seen one in a hat either. lol

Cats aren't the only ones who love to play with boxes. Plenty of kids like to play with boxes and they seem to be more fascinated with them than with the toys that are inside.

Our Ginger loves boxes. Buttons was different, she'd check them out maybe sit in it for a minute or two then move along. They all have their own personalities just as we do. Grayson is beautiful
