If you're new to my posts.. THIS ONE is about a dream I had.
Subway is a restaurant that serves sub sandwiches, salads, and pizza.
There's a TL;DR at the bottom.
This one was a long dream, so instead of writing it out creatively I'm going to highlight certain parts of it.
I really shouldn't be trying to change in the back seat of a cab, but I'm already a half an hour late for my first shift and I couldn't afford the extra five minutes to change into the uniform they require me to wear. Luckily the cabbie is concentrating on the road and can't see me struggling to put on a blouse under the hoodie I'm wearing. It's not as easy as you might think.
I swipe my card across the reader and thank the cab driver as I shove my clothes into my bag. The R int he Arby's sign is buzzing and flickering, but I don't realize I'm in the wrong location until the cab has gone and I'm already in the building. What I find inside is neither an Arby's or a Subway. It's some hybrid Chinese restaurant that is half sit down dining and half express pick up / delivery. The harried server scowls at me and pushes me back out the door.
The map on my phone shows the subway to be in a brick building across the parking lot and on the other side of a two lane road. It's dark by the time I'm waiting for the traffic to clear. My friends are texting and asking me where I am, but I don't have time to reply before I'm rushing across the road and jogging up the broken cement steps of the brick home.
Fine Dining.
If it weren't for the subway wrappers on the table, I would have assumed I was in the wrong place once again. I rush to the back where my friends are bundling silverware as the same man from the Chinese restaurant scowls down at them. "You're Late." He barks at me. "Go clean up and work the dining room."
I had no idea what that meant and my friends were too scared to look me in the eye. The back of the restaurant was set up like a chess board. The only way to get from one room to the other was to move diagonally. It took me a few minutes to find the area where the lockers were and more time than I'm willing to admit to find my way back. I didn't like the idea of taking people's orders, so I twiddled my thumbs and hoped no one noticed me stalling.
A few minutes later i worked up the nerve to go peek in the dining area. I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized my only task was to pick up the trays from customers. I didn't even have to speak to them if I didn't want to.
A man with a cast on his wrist smiled up at me and with shaking hands, passed me his empty tray complete with wrappers and used napkins. "Thank You." I replied and pasted on what I hoped was a reassuring smile.
TL;DR: Basically dreamed I was late for a first day on the job and the restaurant I worked for was nothing like reality.

Wow I would have been upset after realizing what I did. I would be afraid to cross a busy highway to get there.

It was actually a two lane road, but it was like in a downtown area.
I recognized areas in my dream. Some were just down the road from me and others were in the downtown area here. Obviously a little different than reality though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Downtown areas can be goodbut when they are two lane roads like that they suck.

It has been a very long time since I've had their sandwich. My favorite is the sweet onion chicken teriyaki sandwich. Can you get that in Germany?

@thelme55 Were there competitive restaurants near it? Here we have two other restaurants that compete with subway. Even some of the grocery stores have better sub sandwiches.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Not anymore. We had Subway before in our city but it is gone now. Maybe there were not much clients buying there.

That's what I'm still working on. I might paint it though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I meant the chessboard floor in your dream! Maybe that's why you had that dream -- because of the Jenga blocks.

I'm not sure why it was subway that I thought of. I can't eat sandwiches from subway because they aren't a part of my diet.
