Harassment !

Several of my family members have tested positive for the COVID 19 virus. Some are under home quarantine while one family member is now in our local isolation center very near our compound. Sad to say we are experiencing discrimination and harassment from our neighbors. I can relate very much to how the lepers felt during the times of Jesus and even during the times before Christ was born. It's easy to say COVID-19 is a hoax and the statistics is are all made up or "fake news" but when it invades our comfort zones ... that's when it becomes so real ... so tangible. Can you still recall moments when you've experienced discrimination and or harassment of any form?

There's a house cordoned very near to us and I thought that ours will be included but it was never so I go out and of course reported to work but some people in the neighborhood would have a strange look at me when they see me outside.

@gamayngbaki Never mind them. It will just give you stress. Go out because you're allowed to go out and if they want to complain then I think they should appeal that to the authorities.

@ZedSmart Yes I will do exactly that. I'm planning to go out this afternoon to do an errand for my senior citizen sister. I want to wear my t-shirt with the print "eat your heart out".

It's happening to us also. One time they even stopped a resident here in our compound on his way out to having his breakfast. It really makes my blood pressure boil!

Sorry to hear this. I hope they're still fine and wish people stop to discriminate your relatives. Never experience that.

My niece mother in law is still in the hospital, still intubated and sedated. We are still not giving up on her.

@gamayngbaki I understand. It is hard to not mind the statistics if you are part of it.

Thank you! You know what every time I read peoples negative comments on news items regarding COVID-19 cases statistics I get so tempted to tell them that hey the statistics is true because we are a part of it. And it's true that it's now whole families infecting themselves just like what happened to my family.

Yes. I deal with it less and less, but almost every time I go to the doctor. I feel like that. Often when I'm with my husband I'll get looked over unless I butt into a conversation. I am disabled and will continue to experence this type of thing.

I hate discrimination of any form. Nobody is more superior than the other because nobody was created perfect.

@gamayngbaki I know. I've learned to let it roll off my back.

Oh yeah, many times. But I'm sensitive to that kind of thing. Predator-type of people always take advantage of vulnerability.

I’m so sorry so many family members have covid. I hope they all recover and quickly. People fear getting the virus. Just follow protocols and don’t worry about them.

Yes it's really very unfortunate for my family to experience this sad moment in spite of following strict protocols. We are all hopeful that all family members infected will soon get better and back to normal.

Unfortunately when times are hard, that's when the worst comes out of some people. I hope you are all okay there, they are understandably scared, but that does not excuse awful behavior. I hope all your family members get well soon too.

I can understand their fear of this dreaded virus but it would have been better if they offered help or whatever support they might be able to give us instead of watching every move we make and reporting us right away to our local officials.

What was the situation before discrimination and covid? Were your neighbours, good to you?

Yes they were good to us and we have a very respectful relationship in fact I even call this neighbor who is harassing us "tito" or in English "Uncle" as a sign of respect and deep friendship. But sadly he already lost it.
