The water tastes weird

Plain water is supposed to be tasteless. It's just water, to begin with. If it tastes weird, then there might something in the water. I don't have a water filter. Most of the time, our tap water is good enough to be used in cooking. But lately, I noticed the water that I boiled taste funny. Can't describe the taste precisely. It's like a bit of metallic(?) taste. Not a lot, but enough to make me couldn't drink it. So I thought, maybe there's something in the water or it's from my tumbler. But I went to First sister's house the other day. I refill water at her house and there's no funny taste from it. Then the problem is not from my tumbler. Maybe it's the water. Okay, so I need a water filter. But I can't just go and get one just like that. The temporary solution would be buying mineral water to boil while Googling a decent price water filter. Did I ever mention I don't drink mineral water? That's why I boiled it first. And guess what, the weird taste is still there. Now I wonder it's the kettle that contributes to this problem. Is that possible for that?

@RiskaR I don't know about that. Is there a connection between air and water issue?

I experience something like this now and again. Something in the pipes giving way?

If you're boiling mineral water, maybe whatever the mineral is becomes more concentrated.

But what about my tap water as it seems the tap water also has the same taste. A friend of mine said it's maybe the mineral water as well. Certain mineral water do has weird taste.

@prinzcy I've tasted water that has a 'mineral' taste as well. Maybe it's something in the pipes.

I don't know. Perhaps it could be that as it's the tap water that has issue.

That is strange,,maybe it could be the kettle. Maybe you can find some kind of testing kit and see if there is anything up with the water. Does everyone think it tastes weird or is it just you?

I'm trying to search the test strips that DE mentioned around here. If I couldn't find it, maybe I'll order it online.

We always buy water for drinking, but when for cooking we have filtered tap water - just to be safe.

I couldn't drink mineral water just like that. Feel that it's not clean. It's my weird tendency.

Test strips. Photo belongs to Amazon.com
Can you go to a store and buy test strips for water? I have some I use to test the water in my fish tank to make sure it stays in the safe range for my fish's health. Screenshot belongs to Amazon .com

Maybe the problem is in water because even before you boiled it, it already has a weird taste. And yes, boiling it could contribute to the weird taste too.

If boiling is the issue, then it's the kettle, not the water, right?

Maybe it is. It's a less cheaper solution compared to getting a water filter though.
