What kind of storage bowls last longest?

I buy the Rubbermaid storage bowls but they never seem to last very long, especially if they you store food in them to reheat in the microwave or something. The bowls start to get bubbly looking and nasty looking if you ask me. My husband takes his lunch to work in them most usually but he either heats his food too long or these bowls are just junk. I have replaced them many times. Are there any better ones out there that does not do that?

It sure is. Mom used to buy it all of the time but I am thinking maybe the glass ones would last me longer and be better for my husbands lunches since he microwaves and overheats the bowls a lot.

@Tina30219 I will have to look those up. Right now I am looking around Amazon for some glass bowls with some air tight lids. My husband is hard on things so I need something that can hold up to him lol. I hardly ever get out and about to shop so I am trying to find something online. I will look up the bowls you mention also. Thank you.

@DianneN Thank you. I just have to remember not to put the lids in the dishwasher. I will remember more than likely but my husband will need to be reminded lol.

I could not tell you. I never buy any of this stuff. I have too many sour cream containers, those plastic container from Chinese food, cottage cheese, and other stuff... If I ever have to buy a container I think I am doing something wrong.

LOL. I would use that kind of stuff too but my husband would ruin those also. I have to have something that will last when he puts it in the microwave to reheat his food at work.

@porwest I have no idea honestly. For instance, something that may take 30 seconds to heat, I think he turns it on for like 4 minutes or something and walks away. Ruins my dang bowls!!!!!

I use glass containers with plastic snap-it lids. I try not to use plastic at all anymore. My girls have a box of plastic tupperware containers they use but I won't use them. I don't care whether they say the plastic is safe, I'd rather use glass, and metal water bottles.

@stephcjh I don't know what your husband does for work. My husband works in a factory and if he gets a leftovers lunch, it is in glassware. He puts his lunch in the fridge and eats it there. He's not carrying it around all day.

I can understand that. I am trying to find something lightweight, especially for my husbands lunches he takes to work.

Perhaps the stainless steel storage bowls can last forever. If they get dirty, you just need to put them into the dish washer and they will be clean again. It is easy.

@youless My husband has a couple of lunch boxes he uses. They are made of camouflage material. One is soft and the other one has a hard plastic inside of it so things do not get squished.

@stephcjh If so, I suggest glass. I also have a lunch box which is made in glass. It is easy to clean and it is safe.

We got some glass bowls for Christmas but that wouldn't work well with your husband taking his lunch to work. Tupperware may not stain as easy as some of the other brands.

My hubby likes to put bowls in the microwave for too long when he takes them for lunch to work and it "boils them, is the best way I know how to explain it and it ruins the plastic. They do stain also. I bought small, rectangle glass bowls this time with lids. They fit well in his lunch bag.

I personally like the glass ones the best. We have gone through a zillion of the plastic ones . . . but we still have all the glass ones (although sometimes the plastic lid will need replacing).
