Looking For Alternatives to Netflix

Subscribed to Netflix a few months ago. Watched Ozark, Longmire, and a few other great series and movies.
But the selections seem to be narrowing lately. Nothing very good to watch there for now it seems. Maybe they will load more new shows soon.
In the meantime, I have been looking around for alternatives. We have basic cable. So all we need are movie channels.
I was reading an interesting article that listed 20 other streaming options.
Does anyone have an alternative to suggest that you enjoy?

I suppose that's a benefit to not caring about episodic television: I don't have to worry.
When people started "cutting the cord" and getting rid of cable, things were dirt cheap. Now that more people are doing that (and, by extension, the streaming services have more customers than they did have two years ago), the streaming prices are going up. (You Tube, for instance, was $35 when their streaming service started a couple of years ago, and now it's $70. Per month.)
Sorry I can't help you, but you can always watch the sun set from Waikiki on a You Tube live camera feed. Not as exciting as CSI, I know, but still.....

Have you tried Hulu? They have a variety of shows and even some old talk shows and game shows. Also, have you tried Amazon Prime? Some of their selections might be exactly what you'd enjoy ..... I couldn't find enough Science Fiction on them but hey, good ones are rare and hard to find.

I use Discovery + (But that's not movies)
I use Peacock too, the free version.
Let's see.. There' VUDU. I haven't used them in awhile, but I know they have a good selection of free movies sometimes. They also used to give out frequent codes for $2.00 off etc.
Do you use a smart tv or do you use something like a roku? i ask because the Roku Channel has a lot of good stuff too.

@CarolDM Oh okay. I want to actually try the Apple TV app because I saw a preview for a show I think I'd like.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is not what I thought it would be. Started out with a few shows, now only one or two have been renewed.

We use a raku player which has many different apps that have movies. We don't have cable TV at present so can't help you there.

@CarolDM did you see the queens Gambit in Netflix? That was good. I think it was like a mini series. And I watched Anne of green gables and that was good too.

i have been a Hulu fan for a long time, It really does a great job. Disney + is good but only if there are Star Wars fans in the house!

Have you tried Hulu?... Personally I feel like every streaming service has its plus and minuses... If you're looking for movie channels and you have amazon prime and a firestick like I do, you can subscribe to a number of movie channels and cancel at anytime.. HBO, showtime, cinnemax.. I'm waiting for the king kong vs godzilla to come out on hbo max this month. I'm going to subscribe for $8 and cancel it for 1 month.

We watch a lot of television the old fashioned way. It’s still free.

You could check Hulu. I have it but havent looked at the shows there for a long time. Also if you have Amazon Prime they have a large selection.

I have Netflix but find it's in a slump lately too. I don't get rid of it because it usually brings new shows that are pretty good. I also have Hulu which I know other people have mentioned here and I just added Discovery +

There is Hulu, Peacock, Tubi is a good one and free, Paramount +
I like Hulu because they have a lot of the current shows on the following day.

I would probably suggest Tubi, Pluto Filmrise just to name a few. Those are the free channels that I typically watch from time to time.

No alternative for you. I always stick with Netflix. Have you seen Lucifer yet? It’s funny.

We have Disney+ and Hulu as part of my husband's Verizon plan. Disney+ is pretty limited, but I found it good for binging the Marvel movies for a while. Hulu has a broader catalog to choose from. I think most of the stuff we actually watch these days is anime series on Crunchyroll, though. I've only kept Netflix because my kids like watching it.

I think Discovery+ is a super bargain. There are about 10 networks that are covered. I think you can get a free 7-day trial. It's $4.99 with commercials and $6.99 without commercials (what we have). We have Hulu too; but I mainly got that to watch Lost again and to see what Manifest was all about. Good luck.
